when an app fails to install, is the download file still there?

I have unsuccessfully tried to install a specific app three different times. The last time it failed to install, I got a notification that my phone memory was getting full. That made me wonder, is the download file for the app that failed to install(s) still on my phone taking up space? And if so, how do I get rid of it?

Welcome to Android Forums! I'm not 100% sure but I don't think so.

To be sure, you can clear the marketplace cache and see if the space is reduced.

Well, there was 1.25 Mb in my Marketplace cache, so I cleared that.

Is the Marketplace cache where app files are downloaded before being installed?

I believe so but again not 100% sure.
