I hope to see voice recognition for most items including texting and emails and global searches for all user data (like contacts, emails, calendar entries, music files, photos, applications, etc.) We probably will not see it, but I hope to find multi-touch enabled for all Android devices.

I also hope for enhancements to the Gmail app including better display of inline images and PDFs. Adobe Flash?

If it really is just version 1.6, then I suspect Clackamas is correct and it will mostly be cosmetic updates. Sigh...

I am running Cayogen's latest rom that includes the 1.6 stuff.

He didn't have flash on his version. Gmail looks the same. Multi touch in web browser has been there for a while. If it included voice I haven't found it in the week or so I have had it.

This is not an official 1.6 so not sure what the official update will have.

Probably more drivers and support for different chipset and cpus.
There are some phones about to come out with different speeds.

But it's 2.0 , It's gotta have more features but what???? I'd love to know what Google might have in for us :D

Bit of a question about Donut, for those using unlocked Hero's on networks that don't officially support the Hero (e.g Vodafone in the UK).

How will the OTA (presumably) Donut updates reach us, or is there a downloadable version that will available from HTC?

Hi all,

I'm new here. I heard a rumour that donut won't be available on the HTC Hero as the base OS is too far away from the android base. Is this true? if so, how can we find out if/when HTC are gonna release a version for the Hero???

Cheers :-)

The OS should be the same for the hero since it's basically the same hardware as G1 and myTouch.
The major diff is the cam mp and ram size.

Android 1.6 update now official for T-Mobile G1 and myTouch 3G

Donuts for everyone! Well, not everyone -- but as we'd heard, at least some G1 and myTouch 3G owners on T-Mobile USA are now being blessed with an official Android 1.6 build over the air. The carrier says it has "begun delivery," which we take means it's not all happening at once; that's the way the 1.5 rollout was handled, so it really doesn't come as a surprise. Keep checking for that update notification, folks.

There's your update, Americans are so lucky you guys get this first. lol
