Help When is the next update for Evo coming?

badiban

Newbie
I'm getting annoyed. The newest version of the Evo (3.7 something) has way too many bugs. Disappearing widgets. Multiple widgets. Lag. Can't connect to WiFi. It's too much for me. As much as I dislike the iPhone, I think I'll go back to it, because it doesn't have half the bugs the Evo does. When is the new Sense coming???? Or Gingerbread???

Sprint and HTC have mentioned the end of June for 2.3 and there is a test ROM out there. HTC has also said that the newest Sense will not be going to older models. No way are they going to give us Gingerbread before the Evo 3d comes out. You can always download and install the leaked 2.3 test ROM.

9 times out of 10 its the user causing those problems. When one person shows up and makes a blanket statement tells us you are a noob and you don't know what you are talking about. Those issues result from inexperienced android users downloading too many bad apps.

Ya what bugs are. You talking about I had none and have heard of none on a stock evo. I am running genger bread 2.3.3. And had do a fix for GPS and vvm and its running awesome. And loVvvvve it. ...where did u get this info about evo having to many bugs

For what it's worth, I'm running Fresh Evo 3.5.0.1 on my Evo and I don't have any of those problems. I don't remember having those problems when I was on stock either. Have you tried different ROMs? Seriously, I don't bother waiting on manufacturer updates anymore because the development community always has updates faster and longer than the manufacturer ever has. I have been on Android phones since G1 release day.

It's happening to me. :(

I'm experiencing all that I mentioned.
I would do ROMs. But I'm scared to root my phone because I don't want to brick it. And I don't know how to root or do ROMs...

I'm experiencing everything!! Otherwise I wouldn't be complaining. Besides, I'm not the only one experiencing this, go look it up on Google and see how many results show up. Quit posting without researching your facts. You just wasted my time, your answer was extremely unhelpful.

Even though I still haven't read of anyone actually bricking an EVO, your first post makes me feel you might be able to do it. Just factory reset and stop downloading every jersey shore soundboard you see on the market.

But why? I freaking love Jersey Shore. I have all of their apps.

yeah your problem isn't the software or the evo itself. it sounds like you have corrupted data possibly from the last update or just too many apps being constantly downloaded.

updates don't always install correctly and you may need to do a factory reset after installing the update. the next update wont fix this and could possible make it worse.

you need to clear your phone and start over.

ps. this happens to iphones too after updates.

well you are posting in an "ALL things root" forum. there are a select few roms that require some work to get them up and running smoth and if your not rooted you can not do the fixes.. so I think you need to do more research.

why upDATE for NO REASON.... if you have gottin this far in to your phones in and outs you should by now know that updating is not a requirement and sometimes can cause problems or even undo your root......there are some updates that are good and there are some that bad........ stand by my statement sounds like you should do some more research or come at this forurm with a question instead of saying that the evo has " BUGS" my phone is kickin I phone ass.. every day with no "BUGS"

Its true though....My EVO is plagued by lag and quirks...and so is yours.

Its either a crappy OS (Android) or crappy unoptimized hardware (EVO)...I vote both.

No sense in attacking...admitting the problem exists is the first step to resolution.

Don't tell me how my phone operates. I have downloaded wallpapers and apps that causes lag or minor issues. It's pretty apparent what is the cause if you pay attention to your phone. Take the app or wallpaper away and Android goes back to normal. People download so many stupid apps they can't figure out or isolate the app causing the problem or problems. And you lack knowledge about Android with your vastly uninformed comment. Here is your 2 cents back because nobody needs your pennies.

A smartphone needs a smart user. I know why Apple dumbs down their phone now. People want the coolest phone but don't know jack about Android then they cone to this forum to learn and "they think they know everything" but are clueless. It's all about having the coolest phone but when it acts quirky its Android's fault. No, if an app acts up, the developer needs to fix it.

Some apps cause problems with each other but nobody thinks about chain reactions in regard to apps. Download one bad app, then download 2 more. But since people aren't paying attention they don't notice the changes in Android and apps force closing is probably due to an app interfering with another app. Apps multitask meaning they have to do things simultaneously. Developers don't test apps to see if they are compatible with one another genius. Why do you think Apple doesn't allow multitasking.

I like having the choice of whether to employ Flash on my phone or not. And I like the choice of supporting developers who constantly update their apps to ensure fluidity between the app and Android. I have a choice with Android and if you don't like the way the OS functions, don't buy Android devices.

I had a program that would slow down the start up time of my laptop. Is it Microsoft fault? Is it Dell's fault? Hell no, its the software developer and mine for loading it on MY LAPTOP.
