Torrenting a discography means to download a torrent contain the mp3s of all albums from a particular artist. << This is the meaning.

Meanings of words change IOWA, you know this yourself. When words we make up or give new meanings to become mainstream those new words or meanings are officially added to the language.

You're just trying to be an ass about it. If you download a discography torrent you aren't downloading a list of their albums. You actually trying to be too clever makes you sound the opposite, in this case. Don't take that personally (I don't know if you are smart or not so please don't think i'm calling you dumb), its just what it seems like to me.

Can anyone please find this definition from an official source? If not, game over.

Tapatalk. Samsung Moment. Yep.

Word definitions don't need to have been officially recorded. There are hundreds of examples from your beloved ebonics vernacular that aren't even in the dictionary. Would you argue that they aren't words?

Yes. Ebonics is not a language, so they are not words. Poor understanding of english doesn't mean you can make up your own meanings of words. Just like millions of people who say "ain't". Well, that's not a word.

Dwight my dear, you are a hoot. I will now bookmark this thread so I can come back to it and laugh at you. You crack me up sweetie. Just humor me, what sources do you accept as "official sources"?

*kisses*

Also, I find it laughable that just because damn near every person on this forum, except for you, understands the word in the context used that results are flawed. You, man you're just a sweet pea!

Sorry, no. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about anymore.

You lost the argument ages ago, now you're just looking for any weak point to drag yourself back into it.

It seems it is you who has the poor understanding of English.

Lol ok bud.

I'm taking the side of Sir Webster here. And any english professor will agree with me. Argue with that/them.

Official publishers(of the english language) > internet slang > street thugs.

I guess your going to say "ain't" is a word now too

Just because something is accepted as slang meaning of a word in certain circles, does not make it the correct usage. Period.

Slang =/= correct usage.

Like I said before, I'm really glad I didn't go to your school.

So just for kicks, let's wrap this up.

My side: I'm backed by official publishers of the english langauge.

Your side: "well the interwebz & my torretz crew says so!"

Gee, I'm really wonder which side has more credibility here. Really.

Slang is non-standard, not simply wrong.

That's "you're", by the way.

I'm certainly glad I didn't go to your school.

You are right, slang != correct usage, but slang will eventually become correct usage.

Ain't - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Oh look, it turns out "ain't" is a word after all. Yes it says non-standard, but it must still be a word, otherwise they wouldn't have entered it. The Oxford dictionary defines it, too.

Are you going to argue against Webster?
Do your research before writing flawed arguments.

The use of "discography" is actually a neologism. It is an older word now used in a new sense. Neologism is how language evolves.

So, for poops and giggles, let me wrap this up further.

Your side: I'm backed by official publishers of the english langauge.

My side: I'm backed by the natural progression of language. The same publishers and language professionals you stand behind would agree with my point, it's one of the fundamental fields of study of language. It's called etymology.

Poops and giggles? Ok, that made me giggle.

And I'm going to have to argue that this certain word "discography" is a long way from adopting the slang meaning.

And nice catch on "your" btw. Since you know, being grammatically correct on my phone is of such importance to me. Especially on a casual forum. But your right, that was incorrect usage of the word. And I admit that. And millions of people mistakenly do the same thing, does that mean the word "your" is evolving too?

And the reason words evolve, is *generally* (not everytime) there isn't a proper way to convey what your trying to say. In this case, however, there is a proper way. Not that the word may never evolve, and it might. But it hasn't yet, and my argument is in the present tense, not in the future.

Ha just saw the poll.

This generation is in a sad, uneducated state. I feel sorry for the world.
