Help When s-note switches to wolfram alpha

Lurker
Hello All,

When I first started to use the formula function on s-note, I would hit the search button and the screen would split in half between s-note and the wolfram website, which I liked. Now, when I hit the search button, the wolfram website fills the screen, and I can't see s-note at all. Anyone know what's going on?

Hi & Welcome to AF!!!

I don't use formulas or anything that requires them so I'll have to leave this one to those that do.
Best of luck getting this sorted out. Someone will definitely be able to help you.

Hi dann78,

Not sure if you figured this out, but after playing with this, it turns out this will happen if the search internet function is opening a browser that does not support multi-window view. Because the browser doesn't support it, it will open in full screen and not split or cascade view.

To reset the app preferences so you can select a different browser, do the following:

System settings>Application manager

Under 'All' tab, tap on the 3 horizontal lines stacked on top of each other in the top right hand corner and then select 'Reset app preferences'. You should now get a window pop up to select the browser you want the search internet function to open. Select the browser that supports multi-window view.

I am running into the same issue. I followed what Neo said, but it still pulls up wolfram in an maximized window instead of having both s note and wolfram in dual screens next to each other. The only way it seems to let me set it up is in dual screen is if I do it manually.

Okay, I think I figured it out (or hope I did). This is what is happening:

1) if you set your multi-window view to 'cascade' view, it will open the browser in full window. You need to press the multi-window button in the upper right corner (two boxes overlapped and offset to each other) to cascade the browser and have S Note active behind it. To work with both and view both fully, you'll need to cascade S Note as well.

2) if you set your multi-window view to 'dual-screen' view, it will automatically split S Note and browser.

So this will be dependent on how you set your multi-window viewing.

To configure between dual and cascade view, press the ^ to access the app selection. On the bottom left corner side, you will see Help, Dual view and Cascade view buttons. Most likely yours is set to Cascade view.

Ok, it works if I click on the multi-window icon first before I hit search. When I pull up ^ it does show it is in dual view. I have seen videos where the person didn't have to go through these steps, his/her s note was in full view, then the person just pressed search and automatically it went into dual view with s note and wolfram. I just recently purchased the Note 10.1 and maybe an update took this out.

What version is yours? Mine is a Canadian N8010 with 4.1.2 update.

If I open S Note from my app drawer it opens full screen. Then when I select search internet, it automatically splits the screen and displays both internet and S Note. That is if I have Dual View active.

If I have Cascade View active, the browser will open in full screen. I need to hit the multi window icon to get it to cascade and show S Note in the background. But I guess it's dependent on the region you are in and what they did in the update.

Mine is GT-N8013, 4.1.2 update.

I guess you are right, just weird that they would have it that way for tablets in different regions...then again they do that with phones. I have been going through the same procedure that you went through with different(which I described earlier).

A minor annoyance I guess. Thanks for the help: I hope they change it.

Yeah, I tried the Germany 4.1.2 ROM for the N8010 and found they removed the lock screen shortcuts. When I used the Canadian 4.1.2 ROM, it had the shortcuts. So there are differences between regions. Even learning hub seems to be missing for some due to region restrictions (ie. copyrights most likely).
