Root Where are all the devs at?

whats even more messed up is all the so-called devs we bought phones for who have disappeared. apollo and weblexa in particular. I'm trying to remember all the devs we got phones for over the summer to help development and which of those have never done the first thing for our phone. I think apollo and weblexa are the only two who have gone off the radar completely.

O'well though. Hopefully nitro finishes eclipse and that will be my DD until I can get rid of this phone and hopefully choose more wisely for my next one.

I'm back on full stock. Need Bluetooth n hotspot to work. LG really screwed us with ICS being locked. I'll never go with LG again.

Is there a certain amount of time in which they have to release that? or just whenever they feel like it?

Immediately when the rom is available. But they never do that, they are always a couple Weeks late. Which is technically illegal.

isnt playfulGod making a kernel. once he releases that kernal performace, battery, ect will be a beast just like his plague kernel

I don't know. I speak with him almost everyday and he hasn't mentioned it to me but that doesn't mean he's not. I know he got the 4.2 update on his galaxy nexus today and has been playing with that. But I have no idea what he's working on; him and I argue most of the time we chat so I'm not a good source :-P

Repeat after me: "As soon as someone ports CM9, I'll make all sorts of roms!"

So why can't I email LG and request the source code?

EDIT: Chatted with customer support and they said it is not available. Does anyone have a statement or evidence that they have to provide it?

I've tried filing a complaint with the FSF (Free Software Foundation). No response from them. Which is kind of odd :/

Blueracer check out the notice.html.zip file in /system/etc

That details the licenses being used.

They definitely have to release source code. Definitely kernel. The kernel is the Linux kernel plus android stuff, and the standard linux stuff is licensed under the GNU GPLv2 so is most of the android stuff. GNU GPLv2 says source code has to be provided and readily accessible.

It's a tar file that I can't open :(

LG just emailed me back about the source code and said it will be ready next week. They claimed they are having some techincal issue with it. Not sure what that means but we'll see next week if it's true.

Same response here, in a week, sorry for delay.

LG's response:
Thank you for your interest about our mobile phone.

We are sorry for the delay.
We are now preparing for the source code.
We estimate that it will be available next week because of some techinical issue.
Please wait for more times with your patience.

We hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Same exact message.

Whats up with the "Please wait for more times with your patience."

I laughed at that as well. I don't think the person who typed that out speaks english as their native tongue. It makes absolutely no sense.

I think it's saying to please wait for future updates and thank you for being patient.
