Help Where are my pictures???

Where are my pictures located on this ding-blasted device???

Note: I have not rooted the phone (tho this single issue may put me over the edge).

Also, I want to transfer just a picture at a time to my desktop using ES EXPLORER. I have full access to my LAN via ES EXPLORER, but cannot seem to find the pictures I take with that program. I have to go into the Gallery and copy the pic, then paste it onto my SD card in some cryptic location, frustrate myself to no end trying to find WHERE the Gallery puts stuff when it's ONLY OPTION is simply "SD CARD" and then, when I find it, I can finally upload the pic to my network storage drive. And G-d help me if I crop the photo before trying to transfer it because She is the only one who knows where this Stupid Phone puts the edited pics!!!

Your help is MUCH appreciated. This is about the only major flaw I have found with this otherwise great phone. Please pardon my frustration.

Photos are on the card (sdcard, or internal memory card) in DCIM/Camera folder, edited photos are saved in the same location (if edited in Gallery, it will overwrite the original file).

My long answer git deleted when I hit "Pist quick reply" so I must simply say that both of your statements are false ... in my case.

I did no5 mean to be short or rude. The pictures are not in any location on the external SD card, especially not the DCIM folder or sub-folders thereof. Nor are they on any of the "internal" SD card folders. I have searched all the accessible locations (not rooted).

Also, the edited files have not overwritten the original files, but I can't find them at all. The LG Nitro would put them in an "Edited" folder, but not the S4.

So, I am still without access without a convoluted process.

They do indeed get installed in internal/external SD card in DCIM/Camera so kejlyCZ statement is certainly not false!

If you have an external sd card fitted the camera app asks you if you want to use this for the default location initially. This can be changed in the settings and set "Storage" to "Device" or "Memory Card"

So are you seeing the photos in gallery?
If so, open a photo then menu>details and see where the path of the file is pointing to (Path:)

By the way, if you are not rooted, why post up on the ATR thread?
This is not a root-related question anyway.
I expect this thread will get moved shortly.....

Ok. There is something not right about (me or) this phone. I took 36 pics the other day and could not find ANY in the /storage/extsdcard/dcim/camera folder. I had to move them manually, 1 at a time, in the Gallery app, to the sd card. That was after I had confirmed the sd card was the camera's file saving/storage location. But, now the pics are going there.

Same thing with cropped pics, saving them to that same folder, but with -1 at the end if the name, so not overwriting them.

It isn't like this is my first computer exoerience (going after it since the first version of DOS. I wouldn't ask for help without triple checking my work. I can't tell you how silly I feel.

THANK YOU. & sorry for my confusion. At least I am now recombobulated.

I think I just figured out the source of my frustration. I took another pic and then xould not find it in the ES Explorer. BUT it appeared when I hit the refresh button. Never had to do that with the LG Nitro. I just learned something useful.

I appreciate y'alls patience with, and respect for, me. Thank you.

Wish I had found that forum when looking for the forum about the S4 phone. The only one listed was the All Things Root discussion. Now I can read MUCH more food info. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
