Accessories Where does it go when you're in the car??

I am not and have NEVER been a fan of those car mounts that go on the windshield or on the dash board...but now that I actually have a GPS device, thanks to the INC, what are my options??

Is there another way to have it stabilized in the car? WHat do you use?
 
I mounted a business card holder, coated in silicone (or epoxy, I forget), to my steering column. Probably the best $0.69 I've ever spent. Ford also provided me with a perfectly droid incredible sized pullout drawer next to the wheel. the drawer is a little awkward when charging (it has to be at an angle) but is stable and works. And in my normal driving position the line of sight is blocked by the steering wheel (not good for navigation :) ).

OMG, this is EXACTLY what I'm looking for!! But I wonder, since it's right up against the vent, do you think the air or heat would mess up the phone??

I like this one too. So i'm guessing the way it's able to hold the phone up is that coil must be pretty durable and strong huh? Does it work well?

Its nice so far. Haven't driven very far yet, but so far so good!
 
I keep mine in my lap. My car doesn't exactly lend itself to mounting places that I'm comfortable with. I figure that since it's my phone I should have it in some place that is easily accessible.
 
i bought the windshield mount from the verizon store. i didn't think i'd need it until the wife stole my garmin and now i need to use my phone for gps. the only thing i don't like about the gps in comparison to the garmin is it's a lot harder to find points of interest while driving with the DInc. At least the garmin has big buttons that are easier to hit while watching the road. As far as the mount, I love it. Now I actually know what the car dock program is for. Plus, it's a lot easier to listen to baseball games through at bat without using my FM adapter. I hate trying to find a station and then have wires hanging everywhere just to be able to hear my Red Sox! It's such a pain especially if I'm only driving for a few minutes.

EDIT: also the Verizon mount has a removable belt clip, which is nice for those people who like to wear their phones on their belt. Last time I did that, though, I lost my Blackberry at a concert.

If it's in my pocket, I can't hear it ring usually, and the vibrate function isn't powerful enough. Also when it's in my pocket, I feel like it's always vibrating. It's like a tick or something. Happens with any phone I have. If I can't hear it, I feel like it's ringing or someone is texting me. I just keep it in my mount even if I'm not using GPS. At least that way I can SEE if it's ringing :D

Maybe I'm just deaf.

Well, my wife IS deaf, so she has a heightened awareness of if her or my phone is vibrating. :) Also, I think it's a pretty strong vibrate compared to my old Moto Q9c that I never felt, and it's also pretty easy to differentiate my text sound from all other things. It just says "DRROOOOIID." :D

Differentiating my ring tone...couldn't care less about that. I don't like to talk on the phone. :D

Oh man, I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to be rude :o

Right now I have the loudest most annoying ring that I can find on the phone... just the regular cell phone sounding ring. Standard 4, or something like that. I keep it at full volume so when it rings it's loud as hell. I don't understand how people keep their phones on vibrate in their pockets, because like I said, I always feel like it's vibrating so I check it every couple minutes. My brother keeps his on vibrate all the time and he never answers the phone, probably because he doesn't have it in his pocket or he can't feel it. He had the BB Storm and I just gave him my old Eris since his screen was cracked and the Storm sucks anyway. But the vibrate on the DInc is definitely better than the Eris.
