Help Where is all my RAM?

I just upgraded my Captivate to Froyo (2.2 KB1) from here - How Do I Update The Software On My AT&T SGH-i897 (Captivate) Phone To Android 2.2 (Froyo) Through Kies Mini For PC?

I thought the Captivate was supposed to have 512MB of RAM on board and that Froyo was supposed to allow all 512MB to be usable?

Right now, the maximum RAM size indicated by Quadrant's Info and Task Manager is 346MB of total RAM, same as it was before.

So even with Froyo, my phone isn't using its full capability of RAM?

Just want to make sure I get this right, so basically the GPU has 128MB of dedicated RAM? and the user has roughly 384MB of usable RAM for running applications?

not necessarily, it has 2 kinds of ram, one for the 'user', and the other 128 are for things like the gpu. if you want more ram you can run a custom kernal but its not noticeable the way android handles its memory
