Where is outbox for S4?

I have tried to find text messages (not email, just phone text messages) that I have sent, but without success. On my old phone I had an "outbox" but can't find anything like it on the S4. Is this possible? I've downloaded the user guide PDF but can find nothing about it there either.

Maybe it's different on your carrier, but on Verizon both incoming and outgoing texts show up in the same place--using the "Messaging" app.

For email it would depend on what email client app you're using.

I thought the Outbox died with the "feature" phone? All my androids on varying carriers have had conversation view for text messages. Even drafts showed up in the conversation for the contact which you started it with.

I'm surprised it's carrier-dependent versus a phone feature. I'm in the UK and my carrier is Tesco Mobile, which uses the O2 network. When I press Messaging, I can only see my incoming messages. Surely these outgoing messages are stored somewhere on my phone.

The thing is that my husband received a text message from me, but neither of us can understand it and I certainly don't remember sending it! If I did send it, it was a very long time ago (he just received it yesterday), so we're trying to determine if it really did come from my phone.

As I understand it, the carriers can do almost anything they want!

That said, I think you should be able to install some alternative texting apps. That won't deal with the issue of your past text, but it will deal with future issues.

If they really went through the trouble of doing that they've got some serious problems. There should be a folders icon on your Messages app or perhaps a menu option that lets you choose which folders to view to at least keep some functionality.

I'm with Darnell, out-going texts are stored in the phone memory (as they are sent) so there's no carrier intervention (unless your carrier installed a crap messaging app in their firmware but even then just install another - Handcent is my preference).

When you open Messaging you get a list of conversations, hit one of them and you should see messages that you sent (as part of that conversation) as well as ones you received. Do you not get that happening Kent?

No, that doesn't work. I've tried it. I did it and it opened some (only 2) messages from me to my husband alright, but none of them were the one he received. And I've certainly sent him lots more than 2!! Tried every setting (and checked that the one to erase messages after a certain time is not checked). Tried looking at the files (using File Manager), etc. I guess we'll just have to live with the mystery. I posted this in the Galaxy S4 forum hoping that another S4 user would tell me the magic key.

I've no idea how you tell it not to. The only settings in the default App I can see is Settings->Delete Old Messages, have you got Text Message Limit set low? (Mines 200). Sorry I can't help more, anyone else know some vague setting ?

No, I have that option OFF so don't think that's the problem. I'm going to set it very high, however, and see if that helps.

I just installed Handcent (free version) and will try that for future messages.

Thanks everyone who did answer..... must be a fluke in either my phone or my carrier, or both.

It doesn't matter where the message is stored. What matters is what app the phone is using and what that app is programmed to display.

Does the mystery message have a date/time stamp? If it does, maybe you can view your past bill for that date and see if your number sent it. I know some carriers allow you to view who text messages were sent and received from on their online bills.

Unfortunately, my carrier just lists minutes used... not so specific. I suppose I could ask or maybe dig around to find it somewhere but that seems overkill. We're going to watch now and see if it happens again. If so, then I'll definitely question it with my carrier. Thanks.
