Where is the love?

Well the GNex came 8 and 16, with the Verizon variant 32.

If this thing comes with no SD card and just 8 gigs of storage people are gonna flip out. Only way that would be excepted is if this phone becomes available in the play store for say $199 like the Nexus 7 with no contract. And then with storage space the price increases from there, say $249 for 16, and $299 for 32. Wow... that would pretty much be Google kicking everyone else in the nuts with an off contract phone like that.

It's the glitter. It's always the glitter.

Seriously though the rumors have been underwhelming, but the Gnex was a big leap from the NexS.

It's hard to imagine skipping a Nexus device, but I skipped the NexS (and kinda regret it). But I'm taking a wait and see. I don't really trust LG for quality, but then again I felt the same way about Samsung until the Gnex. Now I feel Samsung has come a lot way in quality control.

So we'll see. To be honest I kinda want a Nexus Razr. That could be a cool combo. Something with the style of the original flip Razr.

But I like to keep an open mind so definitely willing to check this phone out.

Google owns Motorola. I don't think we'll ever see a Motorola nexus because then they'd be exclusive. They want the android system to be open to all, and the nexus device is supposed to be the building block that everyone builds off of.
The nexus device will never be high end because android is built for low end and high end devices. It'll always be a mid grade device.
The reason I'll still buy a nexus phone is because it'll get great developer support, and it'll get updated from Google first.

I'm drunk, and thank God for auto correct

From what I've seen the Nexus handsets are not usually over-styled and are usually pretty bold and clean. The hardware is usually pretty high-end inside tho. Aside from the sparkly back; the LG look like a black slab...which I love! I think if Motorola did a Razr Nexus they would need to style it down somewhat. Plus I think Nexus devices are all about vanilla android software and very much about development support.

Well the hardware is up there, but it's not released top of the line. Like it won't be the best phone on the market on release day. That's what I meant.

I read somewhere recently that Moto is definitely considered when looking at Nexus manufacturers. They just aren't given special treatment (so they say). So far HTC and Samsung have had 2 Google dev phones each, so LG, Sony, Asus and Moto are probably the best contenders for the next ones. Of course it does seem like any Moto Nexus would be seen as preferential by some people regardless, so I guess they do have to watch out for that.

The Razr (original flip phone) is pretty slick in style, and the Droid Razer is mostly a black slab. I also dont see why they cant have a Nexus Razr with stock Android on it. So I agree with you but I think the style is already compatible.

The OG Droid had stock Android :)

I'm pretty sure I'll be holding a moto nexus this time next year. Google did say that there would be a wall between their operations and Motorola's, but they also said they would have at least some influence (like moto moving toward more quality phones than quantity). It probably takes at least 12-18 months to develop a new phone, so by next summer or fall (more likely) we'll see the first Google/Moto collaboration. It also works nicely timewise since in the meantime they'll have put out 3 or 4 non-Motorola nexus devices showing that there's no favoritism.

Does the phone have LTE? Some sources say it does and some say it doesn't. Does the LG this is based on have it?

ps...latest "leaks" look a lot more promising...tho still fake!

What exactly is 'mid grade' about the Nexus 4, though? High end, top of the line specs, nice camera (allegedly), high end screen, wireless charging. all of these are top of the range specs on top of top of the line software. I fail to see how any of this makes this a 'mid grade' device. And that goes for the Galaxy Nexus too.

Galaxy S2 was better than/equal to the Galaxy Nexus as far as hardware goes. The Optimus G is better than the Nexus 4 as far as hardware. The Optimus G supposedly has a better camera.
All I meant was that it won't be the best phone out there on release day.

I was semi drunk rambling with the first post. Sober for the second.

And the event was cancelled???

If you owned a G2X you would be a fool to get this phone. LG bailed so fast and left Tmo out in the street. I'm sure the fatal flaw will present itself a few weeks after launch and it will go down hill quickly. Leaving Google with egg all over its face and customers with unusable phones.

I could be wrong. LGs support could have changed and they could figured out how to make a phone that works.
