I am new to this forum. Hello! I am also new to Kindle Fire. Where can I find the apks I want. I did the backup suggestion using dropbox but some of the apks on my phone said they were locked??? One that I wanted was dolphin browser another was podcast? I'm not looking for pirated apks just ones that are normally free that aren't on the amazon appstore. I did see where one poster suggested 4shared by my virus program blocks that site. Thank you!

Can you access google play? Other than that Filecrop is a really good one, because it searches places like 4shared, mediafire, etc.
You need to root to access google play.
If you don't want to do that....
Make sure your kindle is set to allow installation of apps from a 3rd party and visit:
Over 300,000 free android apps direct downloads
There is an app there for their market place (it's kinda like google play) lots of apps, a lot free too. No root needed.
