Where's The iTunes Sync?

Hey guys,

HTC said that iTunes syncing was coming in Froyo 2.2

I've just updated to it and can't see any sign of it, have plugged into itunes and it didn't recognise it or anything

Anyone got it working yet?

Haven't tried it yet, but I think you are supposed to sync your itunes library over HTC sync - don't think Apple would allow you to use their software to improve a competitor's phone... They blocked the ability on the Palm pre.

That's what I was thinking, but there doens't seem to be a new version of HTC Sync out yet anyway

Pretty sure the itunes sync is on your sd card if you mount your phone as disk drive there is an isync icon that is new.

No, when you mount the phone as disk drive and see all the sd card files, there is now a green one called isyncr lite. Click that and it all links to itunes automatically.

I don't have an icon like that when I mount my SD as a disk drive, and can't find iTunes sync anywhere... Not that I'm in a hurry to find it, it would just be nice.

I've just compared my 2.1 phone with the birds updated 2.2 and that's the difference.

I wrote HTC yesterday and just got a reply saying that they do not and will not support iTunes sync... Which is rather strange considering that they have promised it.

You can always sync with iTunes Agent, iTunes Agent

Works well with 2.1, not on 2.2 yet but I don't imagine it will have any problems.

Dam it, was looking for a proper sync solution for my desire, Doubletwist is just an absolute disaster! It's so slow and crashes all the time, it's just awful

I wrote them back with a quote of their press release, and just got a new answer from a new person:

Loosely translated:
With 2.2 you will be able to sync with iTunes, but not until HTC Sync 3 is released for Desire. This is a new version of HTC Sync which only works with Wildfire now. We are currently working on adapting the program for Desire and other Android phones. We do not currently have a release date, but we hope that it will be available soon.

So there is hope!

Just got back from holiday and have updated to 2.2 finally!! so where is this promised itunes sync is it just hearsay?

Froyo makes the phone capable of it, but you need the latest version of HTC sync to use it, which was released pretty recently. You can download it from
http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=982&news_id=757 but you need your serial number, and I think it's Europe and Asia only at the minute.

You can sync your Desire with the latest version of HTC Sync - there is the option to sync iTunes and / or Windows Music. I tried but found it only picked up about half of my library so ended up just dumping the iTunes folder onto my phone via the mass storage option.

I'd rather put my Desire in a toaster than infect it with itunes, awful, restricted program.
