Help Where's the support? What's the point?

I see a ton of threads marked "Support" I have been trying for over a month and a half to get support for my phone, Alcatel fierce xl 5054n running stock 5.1.1 from metro pcs I've trolled all the threads, I've asked numerous questions, I've messaged moderators, I've started threads marked "support" I've started threads that have been deleted. But I still dont get any answers, finally a moderator started a thread after I messaged him (thank you very much) "Alcatel fierce XL" but last time I was in there I'm pretty sure I saw a tumbleweed roll by, I don't see the point of having a forum for phones to call for help for the people if you're not going to help them. I know this is a free service and there's no promise that there is going to be help for every device, but a little support would be nice or a we can't help you would be nice. I Have become a registered member I talk to people on here other members, became an active part of the community , I gave vivid descriptions about my phone and problems/questions and asked about recoveries for it I've asked about unbricking it I've even offered up Files to other members to help them with their phone but I'm still left with nothing no support so I'm just wondering what do I need to do to get a little help around here did I get a crappy phone that will get no support or should I be looking somewhere else?

It could simply be that nobody in the forum has the same phone, or nobody knows the answer. People only usually chime in if they actually have something to say. Also it's not the norm for someone to say that your situation can't be helped, if he doesn't know if somebody else knows something.

I'm gonna be that guy and chime in about not chiming in, if I see Alcatel in the title of a thread here, I usually just move on. Nothing personal but the Alcatel phones that MetroPCS sells are beyond low end. I've never had an Alcatel in general but that just means I'm even less inclined to say anything, I'd rather not speak without knowing and have someone end up with an even bigger mess. And I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way here.

With over 24 thousand (yes, thousand) unique Android devices (source: http://opensignal.com/reports/2015/08/android-fragmentation/) and even only a small fraction of that represented here at AF, we try as best we can to help those when possible.

We're all members here (even the staff are volunteer, unpaid members) and often the questions / issues offered-up do indeed appear to be device- and/or Android-version specific (also, in case it's not clear, AF is not associated/affiliated with Google, so we have no special inside information or resources to offer-up other than our spare time).

We try our best :).

This really.

Alcatels are basic cheap China phones, and are really considered disposable IMO. The manufacturer TCL doesn't seem to show much interest in supporting them, like with updates or developer information for custom ROMs, so it kind of follows that the smart-phone enthusiast community, e.g. Android Forums, won't show much interest in the things either. Unlike say top-end Samsungs or HTCs, or Google Nexus devices.

Basically problems seem to come in two sorts:
1) there's an actual fault which requires manufacturer service and nothing you can do, often due to poor quality.
2) rooting has caused problems, like irreparably damaged the firmware or bricked it completely. Manufacturers like TCL don't provide firmware you can download and flash. And so often here the only fix is to buy new phone.

There seems to be a lot of development in other Alcatel phones(Idol, pop, and other non-american models , the firmware and the flash tool are available on Alcatels website. The Q upgrade just not for this model yet. I did get it fixed, actually easy, got into fastboot and did Fastboot - w . BTW where were you when I was asking around for a decent phone with lots of development? Ha. Thank you for your input, and thanks everyone else.

I really hate to echo what some have stated here, but, this device is somewhat unsupported all over the web, including XDA,who doesn't have a dedicated forum for it,only a thread or two:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/alcatel-one-touch-fierce-xl-5054n-t3244169

I've been there myself, having owned devices with virtually no community interest whatsoever:
Oppo Find7/Oppo N1/Qualcomm Toq
These forums actually existed at one time, but, were quickly archived/retired due to lack of participation,as less than a half-dozen or so members between the three named devices owned/participated in the forum(s).
The device you have may be a bit more common than mine, but,it's inexpensive for a reason,as mfg support is lacking as a result of the low price, nothing to be gained & nothing virtually lost by the mfg for not supporting it.

Most are eager to jump in & help, but, aren't gonna offer false hope/pseudo-solutions that may do more harm than good.

I wish the best for you & the remaining time you own this device & sincerely hope the lack of support for your device doesn't deter you from participating/dropping-by.

Can you read and understand technical Chinese and use Baidu? There can be information available, but not necessarily in English and here on AF. Alcatel phones are made by TCL, but usually that company, like many budget Chinese manufacturers, doesn't support their devices too well, not for updates, and certainly not in the long term.

I might not have read your original post, AF is extremely busy, can't read everything. ;)

@KOLIO mentioned Oppo F7 and N1, which are Chinese devices and not generally available in the US, there's hardly anything here on AF about those devices. However there's a lot of stuff about them on Oppo's own forum, in Chinese of course...
http://bbs.oppo.cn/

Oppo also has an international forum, but they pretty much wrecked and killed it.

EDIT:

Thinking about this thread, has made me want to dig out my Oppo Find 7 again.....

This is support directly from the manufacturer for custom ROMs, on their own site.

Sure you won't see anything like that from TCL.

It appears that at some point you need to accept that your Alcatel phone isn't well supported, at least not here on these forums. You can spend a lot of time and effort ranting that others won't volunteer to help, or, at least for your own mental health, just chalk it up to experience and buy a different, more mainstream phone. If you're using your phone frequently and there's a problem with it, you're just going to get more and more frustrated with it to the point where you just resent picking it up. Really, smartphones can be addictive but they can also enhance your quality of life.

Please let me know how you got to fastboot?
