Help Which apps are safe to disable? (No Root)

I'm looking for apps which are safe to disable, and I'm specifically looking at the SMS app which came with the phone.

Try it and find out. That's what I do.

I've successfully disabled most of the Verizon bloatware (mobile hotspot, caller ID, cloud, navigator, login, support), Help Email, Exchange Services, all the google language packs, HP print service, Motorola Migrate, Motorola Spotlight.

Actually, I wanted to find out before I'd do it, because it's for SMS, and that's not something I want to disable until I know that I'll still get text messages through Hangouts (or the Messages app by Google, should I install it).

Basically, I want to continue to receive text messages, and if that doesn't work when I disable the Motorola SMS app, then I'll miss messages.

No use in disabling something, only for it to backfire, when I can just as easily find out from other people whether it's safe.

Silly me. I just tried to disable the app, and saw that I can't. The "disable" button is greyed out.

I'm not into rooting, so sadly, I guess it'll remain in my apps list.
