Which Custom ROM? & Custom Kernel?

wow lots of different modems... how do i test? Do i just see what one has best signal? but then with battery id have to wait all day to see what its like surely :/ - also what carriers are u all on?

From reading the above posts, KP8 is the modem of choice. Give it a try, if you're not happy with it then try a different one :)

Yes, to test the battery you'll have to give it a go for a day or so.

okay :) i just tested my current one Ki3 and then KP8, with 3G KI3 can get like -99dBM 10asu here which is rather good whereas KP8 only has about -107dBM and 3asu :/

But KP8 gets about 2.3mbps on speed tests (3G) and it shoots up to that figure whereas KI3 gets slightly lower and it takes the whole duration of the test to reach that high :/

so im confused on which to go for???

Try testing the KP8 against KI3 in the various locations that you use your phone and see which is best for you, overall. This may require more tests with SpeedTest or the installation of Antenna, free, from the Market.

Also, when you install KP8, go to Settings > Wireless and network > Mobile networks > Network operators and your phone will automatically search for all mobile operators in your area. When it has finished searching, try to register with a couple of operators other than your own. You will be refused. Now re-register with your own operator and check your signal strength again.

oh is it haha, okay thanks! I thought it was the lower the better :P

I think its between Ki3, KP8 and KL1... Anyone on Orange? What one do i go for?

Ahh okay :P yeah as i though the dBm is the closer to -65 i think the better and higher the asu the better :D

I'm currently about 200m from a Vodafone mast and am getting -89dBm 11asu.

You could try installing, "Antennas", free from the Market to pinpoint the masts, (towers), you are connected to. See here:-

I wouldn't worry about that. I'm always confused:D

I get that way too on 40% proof! :D

Yeah ill try that :) and haha im always confused too lo, android tinkering is confusing at first :P
