Help Which is best?

Hello all.

Just joined after looking in from time to time.

I need to replace my Galaxy Ace, which is slow and full.

I need dual SIM capability, decent battery and camera.

My shortlist so far is
NGM Forward Endurance
Motorola Moto G 2nd Gen
BQ Aquaris 5

Any thoughts, comments or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

Lol Sorry when I read your post it wasn't complete. Don't mind me. I was just being an ass :D
The only one I've heard of and is a well respected budget phone is the Moto G so that's what I'd personally go for :thumbsupdroid:
A well known phone like that will have much better 3rd party support if you decide to modify it in the future and I'd imagine the aftersales care would be much better than the rest

Thanks. As for being an ass - no problem, I quite enjoy being one myself.

Moto G is the best known as you say and is pretty much why I considered it. BQ only because it's available locally (I'm in Spain) and has pretty much the same spec as the G. NGM because of the huge battery and again same (other) spec. All are around the same price. 4G isn't important to me.

It looks impressive, but, I can't find much in the way of reviews.

There's this -
Also, with such a huge power pack to accommodate, there isn’t a lot of space for much else. The already limited 8GB storage is reduced to just 5.23GB with system apps and a few preloaded extras. However, with microSD support you can add an extra 32GB, but this will mean sacrificing the option of a dual SIM.

For the same price as this NGM phone, you could pick up a Moto G running Lollipop and with higher-quality components, or a
ZenFone 5 with a better-looking build. But we were still impressed by the Forward Endurance, which will be running long after others have run out of juice.

Which suggests that I can't have the memory card and dual SIM - I'm waiting for a reply to clarify this.

This is the reply I received-

"
This I think will be a sticking point for you. Throughout the 4.x versions of Android, this was not an option due to how Google coded the system.

You can put external files to the SD card (photos, videos music etc.) however not apps or app data unless the app was specifically coded for this.

Since Android 5.0 there is an option to run Apps to SD - this will create a folder in the SD card where all of that app's data is stored. The app code itself will be stored and installed on the main system, although this does significantly reduce space costs.

Since 4.0 Google have not allowed applications themselves to be installed and run from the SD card as it is considered a potential security risk.

I don't know if the Endurance will see an update to 5.0, NGM have quite a big range of devices so I don't have a list for them"

So that won't be any different to a 2nd Gen Moto G, so no winners or losers on that front

Won't the moto g 2 be getting lollipop? Id have thought so.
What usable internal storage does the moto have? About the same?
I'm afraid that's the price you pay with budget smartphones :(
Pity you need a dual sim or I'd recommend the OnePlus One which is aparently dropping in price (a total bargain)

Yes, sorry, the 3G version has Lollipop according to the Motorola site!!!

Storage the same for all the difference there is - all three run virtually pure Android with little add ons.

Everything is a compromise - unless you're Roman Abramovic !! After today I'm now veering back toward the Moto G. At least that should solve memory issues..........at the expense of the battery capacity. Choices, choices.

I suppose it depends how important battery life is to you (how long are you regularly away from a charger?)
My gut would be to go for the moto for their aftercare service which I can imagine being better.
Plus things like accessories, cases etc.
And the most important thing to me, 3rd party developer support, root, roms ect in the future. It's a very popular phone

Had a look and Zenfone 5 seems to be the best at a comparable price.
+ It has 2GB
- It has Android 4
More thinking to do !!!!!!!!

If memory serves me (pardon the pun) they all have 8GB
I have seen mention that the Zenfone is able to be upgraded to Android 5, but no mention of how this can be done. Given my lack of expertise with things that don't fit a spanner, I'm more inclined to go for something that has 5 already - Moto G.

As an aftertought, if they have 5 then I can save to the card rather than internal memory cancelling that benefit. Am I right in this?

I think so but I don't know how much of the app is actually saved to the card (some is saved to internal) so with big games you can still run out of storage I think. I really need to read up on it. I have 5 but no sd card slot.
Funnily enough though I still have the "move to sd card" option lol.
Wow my post actually sent :)

I don't use it for games, but the fact that I have run out of storage on the one I have now makes it important to me. I hate things that don't do what I want and expect them to do.

Same. I scrimped £50 when i bought my OnePlus One and got the 16gb instead of 64 and I'm down to 3gb left after 6months with no music on it. I know I'm gonna regret that.
Suppose I could get an otg cable and a pen drive but it's hardly portable lol considering the 5.5" screen just fits in my pocket lol
