Help Which is better: IMAP or Exchange for mail?

Thanks for the info guys. I'll be moving my mailbox to our 2k7 server this morning. I'll post the results of the switch when it's done.

Mike, let me know how that goes for you. I am doing this exact same thing Next Quarter for my company.
Now I'm jealous. I want to move to 2010 but can't get the funds yet. New hardware, no migration... new licenses... ugh.

Yeah I had to budget new hardware for it too. I actually think though that they are going to bump me in to Q1 of next year though. I am fighting it but I might lose. The good thing In my favor is that there is not software or licensing cost for us. We are Certified Microsoft Partners so I only need the new hardware for it.

Well, that didn't go so well. Apparently, after a failed attempt at upgrading to 2k10, we have a freakin' member server that doesn't exist any longer and both the 2k3 and 2k10 server both want to use it. Not to mention, routing connector issues, so MY mailbox on the 2k10 server can't route mail ANYWHERE. Oh well, once I get this stuff straight, I'll give a *real* report on how 2k10 EAS works with Andriod.

Shit, that sucks. I've been reading on upgrading and I don't like the way you need to upgrade CAS and HT to 2010 first. I also have an Edge server that I would need to upgrade which compounds the complexity. Keep us posted, good luck.

I have a HTC Incredible and it will not sync with my Exchange 2003 server. I have tried every combination to set it up through Exchange Activesync but it fails each time. It tells me that it sees an invalid username/password. Any ideas from those on Exch2003.

I had issues too with 2003, but can not remember what it was. Just to compare, here are my settings:

Email Address:
FirstName.LastName@mycompanydomain.com
Server Address:
mail.mycompanydomain.com
Domain:
mycompanydomain.com
Username:
FirstName.LastName
Password
123456
SSL = NOT CHECKED.

Hope this helps. I know for sure I had to uncheck SSL, when it was selected I could not connect.

I had the same setup on mine but it did not sync. It gives and error: Failed to connect to the Exchange server. Please check Exchange server settings. Thanks for the response. I have also performed an active sync connectivity test on Exchange. The Exchange Remote Connectivity Analyzer test fails each time.

Try Touchdown from the Market. It's free for 5 days, just to troubleshoot. EAS 2003 and Droid Activesync are sometimes problematic together.

I run 2008 R2 and Exchange 2010 (all on a single server), and active sync works great. Forwarding emails works great.

The only issue I see is with calendars, which sync great. The gotcha I run into is that if I set up an exchange invite from my phone, any responses I get back from the invitees do not propagate through to the calendar invitation.

In other words, although people see my invites and can accept them, and they get entered on their calendars, which I receive their response (via either phone or outlook or OWA) it does not update the calendar entry to show they have accepted.

If I resend the invite from OWA or outlook, any response to that do make it into my calendar.

I have honestly not spent much time debugging this, but not sure what the issue could be. For now although I create exchange appointments on my calendar, I wait until I am by OWA or outlook to add people to the invite list.

Also, to get things working properly, I ponied up for a go daddy SSL cert so I wouldn't have to mess with getting a new CA into the phone.

I also found https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ a huge help getting the server up and running. Prior to getting the phone I had been running a linux server with scalix, but wanted push email to my phone so switched to 2008 r2/exchange 2010. That site along with google helped me fine everything I needed to set things up properly.

I downloaded Touchdown and set it up. I have contacts, bit no other information. I am going back through the setup to see if anything was missed.

Tools > Advanced > scroll towards the bottom and 'select folders' to sync. Do a sync and see what happens.
