Help Which music player?

I've used both PowerAmp and PlayerPro with varying degrees of satisdfaction. I liked PowerAmp because the different sound settings were noticable and very good but the album art compatability was rubbish - even after I successfully tagged all the correct art using Cover Art Downloader it didn't recognise most of the art - and the app also kept scanning for new media a couple of times a day, which was annoying. PlayerPro was the opposite: the album art recognition and tagging was great, but the sound settings (even with the DSP pack) were fiddly and the differences hardly noticable.

Ideally I'm looking for an app that has both good album art recognition and good noticable music / sound settings. I was just wondering which music player folks were using with their GS2s and what is recommended...

hmm, i dont get that with poweramp, i agree about the sound settings are great, but the cover art automatically downloads the correct picture, 99% of the time, and its easy to fix it if its wrong, and it doesnt scan for new media unless i just turned on the phone or disconnected from usb... maybe try it again with different settings, i couldn't be more pleased about it...

i use google music app v4.0.9
very simple with no equaliser but i use it plugged into my car stereo where i have all the adjustment i need to get the best sound.

Make sure you updated to PowerAMP version 2.0.2-build-457.

I had a few problems with album art but over looked it. Checked the main PowerAMP site today where I brought the app from and realised they released an update a few days ago.

I updated and my album art issues are sorted.

Another vote for the latest version of Poweramp. It's one of the most impressive apps that runs on my SGS 2 and my Galaxy Tab 10.1.

The sound quality with a good set of headphones far exceeds my iPod Classic - and that's with transcoding from Apple Lossless to high bitrate MP3 on the SGS2 versus pure Apple Lossless on my iPod Classic.

The sound quality on the SGS 2 wins hands down. I'm not too bothered with the album art stuff and it's the sound that matters to me. I have noticed a few errors here and there in the album art but haven't got round to playing with any of the settings in Poweranp yet to fix those.

Have you tried PowerAmp in the last few weeks? I got an update fairly recently that improved the ui quite a bit. For me, it was the only good music player that had a working lockscreen widget. (The others made me unlock twice)

does poweramp do playlist management imported from (for instance) itunes? i've been using doubletwist as it imports from itunes (and i guess i was too lazy to bother with reconfiguring playlists) but the sound quality could be better, so i'm open to other options. but if possible i'd rather import and listen on the same app than have multiple ones.

can anyone confirm?

Well, I updated PowerAmp.... The album art is still toilet and now the whole app is completely fritzed. I go into it, select "Albums", it freezes for about 5 seconds, then forces close.

Massive fail.

maybe the problem is not in the app, ive never had this kind of problem... and the album art is really ok..

Have you tried the music app that comes with MIUI roms?
I remember seeing a link to the apk in some forum, so that it can be installed even if you have a non-MIUI ROM. Or you could try downloading a MIUI rom, extracting the apk file and see if it works.
