Since its 2015 im just wondering....should i get the 2nd gen 2014 model of the moto x or should i just get the galaxy s5? keep in mind i have to buy off contract so the s5 is 200$ more. so which one? the storage type would be between both 16gb models.

As a 2 year Motorola user, I would highly recommend going with the S5.

That is unless you really like delayed software updates and have NO intention of going to lollipop, EVER.

no seriously,
The S5 has had lollipop for 4 months and Motorola STILL doesn't have it.

Maybe in 5 years when Android 8.0 Orange Crush comes out, Motorola might get lollipop

this actually helps alot thank you!!

The 2014 X got 5.0 a while ago and 5.1 just now (Verizon). The 2013 hasn't been updated fully yet but it's coming.

Love my X, it's a great phone. Screen size, display, Moto features, pretty pure/clean Android, comfy in hand...just an all around nice phone.

but hows the storage? do you have a 16gb or 32?

32. You said you were thinking 16 though :p

You could probably get a lightly used one on Swappa.com for a decent price. I've gotten a lot of phones there with zero issue.

That may be so but I'm still absolutely livid with Motorola.
I've owned both the 1st gen moto x and the first gen moto G and neither of those hve 5.0 yet and it's been nothing but delays and BS from the beginning.

I'm fed up with a company that refuses to support the crap they built.

Like the Moto G.
It's July of 2015 and NOWHERE on any carrier in the united States is there a 5.0 update. ESPECIALLY Verizon.

I paid for the 2013 Moto G ( CDMA ) and there will never be an update.
Moto absolutely refuses to even acknowledge that it even exists!

Oh they talk all day about the umts retail model, or the 4G LTE model.
It gets 5.1 but the CDMA only 3G version?
The one with the MSM8626 chipset on Boost and Verizon?

Well that doesn't get anything

personally i hate my moto g, which is why im getting a new phone. it lacks storage and processing power

It lacks storage for damn sure.
The processor is not that bad, but its all the other stupid crap like no software updates. No root. No boptloader unlock

There's your answer right there. Blame the carriers for any delay as it's they who decide if/when to release their customised firmware, not Motorola.
