I agree with your comment. I have read and researched so much in the last couples weeks trying to find a solution, and no matter where I end up, it all leads back to CapThrowback. So I highly value and trust his opinion.

Maybe since I know I'm at a dead end, I can just start going crazy and trying odd things. Maybe I will take a heat gun to the motherboard? I know with my PS3 and the yellow light of death, it was due to a bad solder joint on the motherboard, and I was able to reflow it.

Time to dissect the EVO and have fun with it!

I'll let you guys know if I come up with anything.

I should also point out that I don't plan on my upcoming experiments to work, I'm just using it for entertainment/learning purposes now.

I'm in Bangkok at the moment, and out of the US for another month of so. I went to one here in Bangkok, but they told me that since it's an American phone, HTC won't send that info overseas.

HTC could certainly fix your device, if it was still under warranty, as all they'd need to do is flash the device directly. A JTAG rig could also fix it, but I don't even know what that is or means.
