I'm upgrading from an HTC Motion that i bought when it was first released. The screen rolled whenever I opened the keyboard unless I held it just right, and the shift key only worked if you pressed really hard on it. Also about 5 of the keys only worked sometimes. If you used the flash when taking a picture, the screen went black and wouldn't come back without hitting the power button.

I kept putting off my upgrade because there was always a newer phone coming that i thought I would want. I am so glad I finally upgraded.

Coming from an HTC Hero. Biggest pile of crap ever. Had 4 different phones after each broke down on software or internal hardware, good thing for insurance.

my palm centro before that was way more stable

love my 3d now

As the title states, what phone are you retiring for the EVO 3d?

I'm coming from the OG EVO so it won't be THAT big of a difference.

I'm excited for those of you coming from a Blackberry or worse. It is like losing your virginity all over again.

EDIT: Ooops...I forgot about Iphone people. Can the Mods add another bullet?
I'm basically switching from the Droid X... I had the original Mororola Droid before that. I have had an LG Optimus V for about a month because I thought I could save a ton of money with Virgin mobile prepaid... But the reception and coverage is horrible! I'm buying the Evo 3d next wednesday, July 27. I can hardly wait.

Do those of you on Sprint like the service and coverage?

Thanks!

This is very subjective for lots of reasons. For me, 3G coverage is great, and when I am closer to downtown Nashville 4G is simply fantastic. Have been a Sprint customer for 9 years now and considering everything you get there is simply no better plan out there. I don't have to constantly monitor my data usage and my bill is the same every month. On the rare occasion I have dealt with customer service they have been excellent. I've even been given full upgrades without even asking (like the one I got when I went to order my 3D). Give Sprint a try for 30 days...can't hurt. Also talk to people you know who have Sprint in your area and find out how they feel. Good luck!

I have been with Sprint, for 10+. Their coverage isn't too bad, but it all depends on where you are. Where my house is, I actually have a dead spot and only get one or two bars. In most of the rest of the city (Wichita, KS by the way), I have full bars. When I visit family in central Maine, I get no service, although my coverage there has expanded substantially since even a couple years back. I used to lose signal once I went north of Portland. Now I keep it all the way up to Lewiston/Auburn.

The main reason I have stuck with Sprint is, I get a pretty good deal on my plan, and they have always been particularly helpful. I'm paying for 4 lines right now, and have unlimited everything, other than voice, which I have 1500 shared minutes, and two of my phones are Evo3D, so I get charged for the 4G, even though we don't have 4G anywhere within a 3 hour drive from me. With all of that, I pay about $200/month. I can't get anywhere close to that much for that low a price with AT&T/T-Mobile or Verizon.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with Sprint. I do wish they would expand their coverage more, and hurry up with the rest of the 4G rollout though.

Bad news for you bro, Virgin mobile and sprint are the same network.

Sprint owns them.

If the cell phone coverage is good, but 3G was bad, check to see if you have 4G.

3G in my area blows. I thought it was a bad 3G radio in my phone, at first. But I have 4G, and it's strong here, so I don't sweat 3G too much. The 3G is good enough for Pandora and GV, so I'm happy with it. Not as good as VZW on the DX, though.

Came from a Samsung Moment/Transform that did its job once rooted but I couldn't pass up the opportunity for a better phone.

Funny story: My daughter (currently has an Evo) asks me if she can use her old Palm Pixi for her phone and keep her Evo just to take pictures since the Evo battery just didn't last long enough. Told her to use the extended battery I bought for her, but I guess it doesn't fit as well in her skinny jeans I was told.

Told her she has 3 options.

1. She moves to the Pixi, and the Evo goes to mom (hell no can she use it just for a camera)
2. Get clothes that fit right and use the extended battery.(yeah right)
3. I root her Evo and she gets 40% better battery life right off the top.

Guess which option she went with...

Let me give you a hint (she's now into installing custom ROMs to find which gives her the best battery life)

I realize that virgin mobile is Sprint but as was shown to me when I made this decision... Sprint has 3 times the coverage nationwide than VM does. I'm coming from a long run with Verizon which had excellent coverage, even when I was on vacation in Jamaica. Verizon is SO expensive and my bill was never the same...

I just switched from the Optimus V to the Evo 3D! I'm so excited! I've been waiting weeks to be able to buy it. So far i'm very happy with it! Overjoyed to put it mildly... :)
