Root Which rom is the most stable? I'm having some issues.

Hello everyone, I am trying to figure out what rom is the most stable for this device? I am currently running on cm7 with oc kernel and I'm having random freezes here and there so I have to pull out the battery.. I used the latest ctmod and it gave me random reboots? I'm not sure if it's the phone itself or what? I just bought this phone yesterday....
 
You probably have it clocked to high. Not all phones can handle 946. Turn down the clock speed and i bet it runs very stable
 
Combination of overclock stability issues and/or lack of stability due to running an EXT4 file system with no journaling, most likely.
 
I doubt that it's the phone. I would use Odin and install a fresh image then :

1) install the CWM update
2)install CM7 beta5, then go in to CWM and do a factory reset. You will also want to go to the ADVANCED setting in CWM and wipe the Dalvik cache after every flash too.
3) partition card
4) install one of the Katokernels. I use the non-ext. version with the S2E app from the Market to transfer data to my sd card. It helps with lag issues when done that way. If you would like, I'll be more than happy to walk you through the install with a step by step TUT. Just send me a PM if you want some help setting it up. Give me a little time to reply.

Like LV said, you will also need to find the optimal setting for your cpu. Not all processors can handle the 946 settings. Mine can't. It can only handle being set at 900MHz.
 
Yep I run mine at 864. I can't stand reboots. At really heavy use 888 will cause a reboot on mine and 900 is the highest it will go.

To be honest I don't notice a difference between 864 and 900. Except for the better benchmark scores.
 
Thanks for your replies. I have been messing with the oc and I just found out I can't even oc my device without it freezing up on me or rebooting itself. I have the governor set to smartassv2 and I/o scheduler set to noop. Max I keep changing to see what is stable and if I set it past 800 it becomes unstable for me. The min is set to 200 but that shouldn't matter. I will start from scratch again and see how that goes. Is it mandatory that the sdcard needs to be partitioned? At the moment my sdcard is not partitioned at all..

The partition of the sd card should not matter and I would try conservitive and sio that might work a little better for you. Also overclocking might work a little better with a rom.

this really explains governors and schedulers in great detail. really nice. i use minmax 120/946 sio and get 2050-2100 and i do benches at what i use every day. yes i can probably tweak it and get better but whats the use if thats not what you are running everyday. and some phones can only run 900 or so, i guess i got a good one.

You might be surprised but your min setting can definitely affect stability. Originally mine wouldn't go above 800 either. I switched to the katokernel and kinda forced it to 900 but didn't run it at all that day. It eased into it and now rockin the 946. Min set at 320 made a huge difference though
 
Well I think just might be smartassv2. I can set to the other governors without the phone locking up on me. I do have one major issue. I can't charge via USB cab let the PC ? I changed rooms and still having the same issue with multiple PC's.
 
I can't even go above 800 without my phone freezing and showing the words "SAFE MODE" in the bottom left corner of the screen
 
My settings are I/O Scheduler is Sio Scaling is smartassv2 Min 98.304 Max 946

The i first got the oc kernel i couldn't get past 900 but it seems like the more you use it you figure out what works best for your phone. Also i think it helps to slowly work your way up on the max settings. Its like it is breaking in the cpu or something.
