Root which rom to use?

I am new to custom roms, I have rooted the phone, and run flashrec, I also ran a nandroid backup, but now I'm wondering which rom should I use for the first time, and what version of said rom. I'm using a telus (Canada) hero.

IMHO, try different ROMS out there until you find yourself fit with one until HTC releases their 2.1 for us canadians. I'm current on SenseHERO 2.2 which i do know there have been upgraded versions from the dev. But I found this more stable than Villian or even SlideVillian. Villian has released their 6 version and soon 6.1. Pick and choose till you see fit. that's my advice

For Android 1.5 I suggest MoDaCo 3.2.
For Android 2.1 I suggest SenseHERO 2.1 or Villain 6.2
