It does indeed.

Oddly my cache/download location has changed to cache so I had to amend my script. Odd. Just stopped working one day.

Oxygen ROM is of similar size (total and cache), but I don't see this script in it. Strange.

It does indeed.

And I think your 91.27MB probably is with the UOT theme - I seem to recall that I was able to run it with the original Oxygen hboot. But the new Oxygen r2 is only 5MB bigger overall (system is 10MB bigger, but cache is reduced to 5MB) and will comfortably fit Redux with any extras you flash.

(I had the urge to update my copy of Redux to my current apps and data today, and it was coming in around 88.7MB before I started deleting live wallpapers etc, but after a UOT flash).

MIUI XJ. Best ROM there is in my opinion, though I'm gonna update to coolexe's Honeycomb ROM when he perfects it. Looking very nice o.O
 
Right, having read up and studied and nearly driven myself mad, I'm ready to choose a rom. Just one question to the guys using non sense roms in this thread... is there anything that doesn't work that sticks out? I've read some roms changelogs and it's stuff like camera doesn't work, only records in landscape, etc. I'm rooted but haven't flashed anything (although on launcher pro) and just wondering if I change to a non-Sense rom, will I notice a downside?

Sorry, probably a question answered millions of times... but I'm a total coward :D

It depends what ROM you use. All the ROMS I've used aren't sense and they've normally worked fine, but if there is a definite problem the Dev will probably tell you in the thread.

And if you backup up before you Flash one on, then you can still return the phone to exactly how how you had it before without a problem.
 
Another happy Redux 1.2 user here :-)

Stripped, themed with UOT Kitchen, custom hboot table, no Ext partition, latest RIL/Drivers, stunning battery life, I miss nothing from Sense or CM7 and I couldn't be happier.......well, I will be when 1.3 gets released :-D

My only concern is that I'm forced to use Coutts' kernel now since every other one I've tried lately has built in cpufreq control. I prefer to have Tasker run that (for various reasons) and Coutts' appears to be the only one left available that doesn't mess with it. Absolutely no offence meant to Coutts' kernel by that - it's amazing but I'm a flash-a-holic and the wait for the Redux update is killing me lol :-)
 
Hi SURoot, first up, big respect for holding the fort over at the Xda thread while Ihlades is sitting his exams :-)
Basically, by cpufreq control I just mean I want the kernel to leave my clock speed alone :-) All the newer ones automatically scale down on screen off so my Tasker profiles are not kicking in and as I stream a lot of Flac encoded audio I need the cpu "unrestricted" when screen is off but headphones attached. The stock Redux kernel actually is fine for that but it's not compatible with the leaked ril and drivers! :-)
As I say, it's not a big deal and coutts' one works perfectly!
On a side note, how's your rom coming along?

Ah righto. Thansk for answering. Wasnt sure what you meant. Did you try eviollets ManU btw? I'm not sure if it does that or not.

Hmm I get close then I get further away. I have several different source repositories on the go currently. My closest effort was fine except WiFi and SD card. Although I knew how to fix that (With some help) I decided to start again and have been having trouble getting a compile on the latest source I have on the go. I started again yesterday. Its a loooooooooong process. Its just a learning project really.
 
I'm running the new experimental CyanogenMod 7.1.0-RC1

Are there any roms that come with no pre-installed apps? I read removing them isn't a good idea, and I don't need any of the apps that come pre-installed on CM7. Other than that, I love this rom.
 
Changed my ROM from CM7 v7.0.3 (Android v2.3.3) to Oxygen with Android v2.3.4. Also, flashed the new Alpharev Oxygen r2 table. The ROM fits nicely on this 100MB system partition: The installed unmodified size is 89MB, leaving 333MB available for data.
I've left Dalvik on internal and installed all my 120 user apps as "internal" in combination with a2sd+. Free space available 120MB. I can still use 2 more tricks to increase available memory (Dalvik and lib), but so far had no need for that. Also, thanks to a2sd+, widgets are on SD card. :)

The ROM seems "cleaner" than CM7, but offers still quite nice features, like battery percentage, advanced status bar power widgets, ad-hoc wifi (not tested).

So far so good, but I had developed a reflex to use tracball as power on feature from CM7. Now, I have to go back pushing power button instead... :D

Depends. Which apps are you referring specifically?
 
Don't know about etc, but I believe all if the others can be removed if not wanted. If you wish to test, try freezing the app using Titanium & see if anything breaks. Or take a nandroid first & restore if you have a problem, or reflash the ROM - many options really.

(Edit: or, as SUroot points out, a simple yes would do....) ;)

I've been travelling, so not tested CM 7.1RC1 yet, but did strip about a third of the zip out the other day (mostly wallpapers, themes and apps I know I don't use, including a couple if those you mention. There's a chance I've done enough to fit it in 100MB...
 
Yeh I know I can freeze them, removing seems to be a bit of an hassle and I read that removing isn't always the best idea. I was just hoping for a ROM I could flash with no apps. So that I don't have to freeze/remove anything.

I'm a bit confused by the yes?! yes there are ROMS with no apps? which ones?
 
The "yes" is "yes, you can remove those apps you named".

Removing from a ROM before flashing is pretty straightforward. The only catch is knowing whether it's OK to remove a particular app. That's why I suggested freezing - if that does no harm, then you should be OK to remove the app later.

Don't think anyone makes a ROM with literally no apps. DevNull is pretty small, so there can't be a lot in there.
 
I sort the apps into two categories - 1) those that you see in almost every ROM (basic to the ROM), like Clock, Calendar, Launcher, Messaging, Contacts, etc. 2) and those that you see only in some ROMs, like Spare Parts, ROM Manager, DSP Manager, ADW Launcher EX, etc.

While I'm 100% sure that the second group of apps can be removed (before or after flashing the ROM), I'm not quite sure about the first group.
 
I remove all sorts. VPN services, deskclock, sim toolkit, gmail, maps, Text to speech, market updater, quick search, genie widget, calculator, FM to name a few.
 
I just found that the key to getting CM7.1 RC1 below 100MB (and thus into the Oxygen r2 table) while keeping what I wanted was to uninstall the android keyboard that came with it and then restore the modified version from 7.0.3Light from my Ti backups. That saved about 9MB!
 
How big is it? The redux one was 1MB but sure it was bigger on GV.

I delete that and launcher if not coming from a wipe. Not good if wiping though
