Which Rom Update to use ?????

Hi Folks

A friend of mine has an unlocked T-Mobile Hero (G2) but uses a o2 sim card in it but wants to update to 2.1.

He has not done the Rom update from HTC so he can get the first part of the update yet because we dont know which one to do it with.

Does he use the T-mobile one as when he starts the phone up it still has the T-Mobile logos on it and if he does will the phone become locked again???

Well, which ever firmware you install it's not possible to re-lock the phone to T-Mobile.

Sounds like he's running the T-Mobile branded 1.5 at the moment, since it's showing T-Mobile when booting. So you have two options:

- Just install the T-Mobile OTA update. It will work just fine and T-Mobile don't seem to tamper with the ROMs too much.

-O2 don't do a branded ROM, so you could install the non-branded 1.5 firmware then update to 2.1. This would take a lot more effort, but would remove any T-Mobile tweaks. This is a guide of how to do that.
