so you expect people to know the app version just by your screenshot? WOW that's asking a lot. why not just look at your friends phone?

i'm betting no one will be able to tell you the answer to your question.

.....good luck LOL

It would be a very, very rare instance where every app version also involved a noticeable change the user interface so I tend to agree with @ocnbrze that your query is implying an odd assumption. Most new versions of any app do not typically involve noticeable changes, the issue being most people get pretty pissed off about it. Typically any kind of major alteration to the user interface is done gradually or when it involves some kind of significant development that requires it.

Tell your friend to look in their WhatsApp app help/settings menu to find the version number. Or have them look in the Settings >> Apps menu and open the WhatsApp app entry. Either way will work. But really, what kind of problem is going on where you or they need to even know what app version is involved?

Can you at least tell us whether this was part of a picture of the message app's interface or whether this is someone's (heavily customised) home screen? Because it could be either: the presence of what look like "notification dots" suggests a phone dock rather than an app UI, but I can't rule the latter out (maybe that circle icon would tell me if I had any idea what it was supposed to represent).

However, one thing I can tell you is that it's not a shot of WhatsApp's user interface. The icon next to the word "Chats" isn't WhatsApp's icon either, but if this is someone's homescreen it's so customised that there's no way of knowing whether the icon that they chose is related to the icon of the app that button links to. Conversely if it's a chat app it isn't one I recognise (that isn't the user interface of WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram or Facebook Messenger, nor is it any SMS app I've ever used).

The screenshot just looks like a default text messaging app to me.

And if you mean your friend read messages that you deleted on your phone, that doesn't mean those messages would be removed from the conversation on their phone.

I'm pretty unclear on what you're actually asking here or what the issue is?
