I reserved mine from a Sprint store more than an hour away because all the local Sprint stores had the preorders already filled up. On launch day I will go to my local Radio Shack and see if I can pick one up and avoid the mail in rebate and about $9.25 saved in sales tax because it would be $100 less from Radio Shack due to not having to deal with the mail in rebate (if I buy from the Sprint store, i would have to pay taxes on $350 rather than $250). If it is sold out at the local Radio Shack, there are several BB's and RS's along the way to the Sprint store where I have my preorder waiting for me.

If you are an upgrade customer will you also have to pay a $36 activation fee at RS and BB?

I have one reserved at sprint store and a back up one reserved through company sales (which isn't as guaranteed as sprint store). If I'm able to get it through work then I'll give my reserve phone spot to a lucky line waiter on tuesday morning.

I have one preordered... but I have a question... I have an iphone now... and I will be canceling in the middle of my billing cycle... will I have to pay for the full month for AT&T or will they pro rate my bill?

Thanks,

Pay for full month, AT&T doesn't prorate final bills...actually your termination will be future dated to last day of bill cycle

If you're a Sprint Premier customer, the activation fee is waived regardless of where you purchase (some people who are Sprint Premier have been charged at BB or Radio Shack, but Sprint refunded the activation fee promptly afterwards).

If you're not Sprint Premier, I'm pretty sure activation fee is added anywhere.

I could be wrong about this, but this is what I've learned through past experience.

Not true. They prorate from the day you cancel as long as you are out of contract. Just went through this with my wife and will be doing it myself on the 31st. My billing date at AT&T is the 14th so I will be prorated 8/14-8/31.

They made an exception for you...however, since I work for them, would you like me to copy & paste the policy? Some have a little give with some policies and sometimes it's up to the rep you get.

Do you think it could have anything to do with being a business account? I just thought it was that way period but then again AT&T has yet to be nice to me in 6yrs!

Nope, nothing to do with it, that's the dept I work in lol. Our policy is to terminate service on the last day of your bill cycle, if you choose to terminate b4 then, fine, but it's not prorated. The only exception is the 30 day return period...I've made an exception twice.

I reserved one at a Sprint store. Are they only gonna give it to me on new contract? I was considering just buying it out of contract.

I'm #3 on the list at BB, plus I reserved one at SPRINT. Best Buy now has a list of 15.

I'm #3 too lol...I will be there at 9am, I'll probably be there at 8:45 waiting oh so impatiently lol...also reserved 1 at the sprint store, and since I will be starting work at another Sprint store, there will be 1 on hold for me there too until I call & tell them to release it when I have 1 in hand...So I have a backup for my backup

Let's talk about this BB appt thing...I know they said they'd call me Monday to let me know how many they are getting in, today I asked them if they knew how many they'd be getting and they said from 2-10, then he looked at the list and said they'd be getting at least 6, they will get enough to cover the preorders (has anyone had a problem with them not getting enough?) anyways, if they give me an appt, what happens if I appear at 9am anyways and say screw their appt?

Best Buy here in NYC had more pre-orders than phones when the Evo came out they were calling people in up to a week after the phone was released but I don't expect the Epic to sell out like the Evo, then again who knows since the Evo is pretty much a ghost right now and no one can find any.

that's what i'm afraid of, well, not too worried since i've pre-ordered and have reserved one with sprint, but i have a feeling people who are still waiting for their evo will grab an epic as soon as they see it first hand. i have a feeling the epic stock will move pretty quickly. it will be interesting to follow once the phone arrives.
