Who has SLCD screen and how do you like it?

I finally bought a Dinc today. It has SLCD.. and my roommate has a regular AMOLED one. I can't really tell the difference in colors but the text do look slightly more smooth on the SLCD. The main difference is the blacks of course. In a dark room, you can clearly tell which one is the SLCD since AMOLED has no output for dark areas on the screen.

Beside that, I doubt anyone can tell the difference in normal use without checking the box.
 
i have the amoled screen and am concerned most about best screen for battery life. I use the internet more than videos. So far I've never gone over about 7-8% in the percentage of battery power usage. What % of battery do any of you SCLD owners use for your display?
 
Looking for some clarification--On AMOLED screens, isn't everything a little fuzzy? Text is the most noticeable, but even straight lines, such as on the Gmail app icon, or the Wi-Fi icon in the notification bar, have a discernable fuzz to them at a standard viewing distance in my eyes. Yes, the colors are vibrant (my friend's Droid looks washed out to me, at a similar brightness), and overall the screen is impressive, but the sharpness doesn't seem quite up to par.

I'm very curious to see the SLCD screens in person, I rarely watch video/use my camera for photo-viewing and it may cater better to my needs.
 
Yes, the SLCD will have more apparent resolution (so, better text rendering). One of the real negatives for current AMOLED screens is their pixel layout, and the lack of a true 1:1 ratio between Red Green and Blue subpixels. The AMOLED screens have half as many red and blue subpixels as they do green (or rather, they're larger so you need less of them), which accounts for the lack of clarity compared to a typical LCD screen.

I owned the Samsung Fascinate for a few weeks before I traded it for this phone. Screen on this is just as pleasing.
 
Because of Ginks post on the free Inc on Fri at Best Buy my wife upgraded her Eris (once mine) to the Inc an slcd version. It's great, but as for screen tech it really looks nothing like my AMOLED Inc. Mine is brighter, super black (obviously), and text is easier on my eyes to read (note softer not as crisp/edgy).

If I had gotten an slcd version to begin with I probably wouldn't mind, but after being with my AMOLED Inc since April I would just feel like I got somewhat shortchanged if I had to switch to one. No offense meant to those with an slcd version.

The biggest draw buying the Inc (back in April) besides the then new snapdragon was the AMOLED screen. I'm just a sucker for new screen tech that takes black levels to the limits!

As for visibility outside on a sunny day shadowed with your body? They are equal to my eyes in every respect. In direct sulight they are also equal....meaning you can't see either one :-)
 
I just got a replacement - hardware 0002... I got my original off pre-order...

There is a definate difference in the displays - The replacement i recieved has a very pinkish hue that is much more noticable at dimmer backlighting. Not sure I like it, but it doesn't bother me too much...

um...I'm confused my you're posting this here. You're previous Incredible obviously had an AMOLED, and since your replacement is hardware version 0002 (not 0003, which would be SLCD) it too has an AMOLED (if a somewhat messed up one) I don't see how this relevant.
 
To give a little background, I recently moved and AT&T coverage is horrible where I moved, so I tried out the Samsung Fascinate because it received great reviews as far as the screen quality was concerned. However, I was very disappointed with the screen and the overall phone quality so I went back to my iPhone 4 and lived with the dropped calls until it was too much. (dropped a call during a phone interview)

So I went down to verizon on Saturday and got the droid incredible and I must say, I'm very impressed with the screen quality. I have not seen the AMOLED screen but the SLCD is good enough for me and that's coming from an iPhone 4 which also has a very nice screen. The SLCD is also very responsive.

For me I thought the droid incredible would be a down grade and was willing to live with it for the verizon network, but it's actually an upgrade and I find that funny since the incredible was released before the iPhone 4.

I wouldn't feel so ripped off. Look at your pictures and see how much sharper the SLCD is (especially around text). Its a pretty significant difference. AMOLED is fuzzy/blurry.
 
I had the Amoled screen for the first few months. picture was eye poping beautiful. that said. you could not used the phone in the sun..

iv'e had the SCLD screen for like a week or two. at first i was not to blown away. now I like it 100% better. i can see the damn thing 100% in full direct sunlight;) thats everything to me....

and the screen is still beautiful.
