Help Who Has ZVJ ? ! ? !

Updated this A.M and have noticed no difference in the system...........yet.
I expect it to be crappy in the coming days but for now i am complacent.:ciao:

I Updated my Non-Rooted Optimus S Yesterday. No Problems At All... Slight Improvements Noted Actually.

Battery Icon works as it should again. Saw a few more free free MB's available to the on board phone memory. Noticed the new Download Icon.

Things were a little buggy at first, but then I updated the Phones PROFILE and PRL, followed by a full shutdown and restart, then everything ran great.

Here’s my ground-breaking discovery about 2.3.3:

When you’re editing text and want to select a big chunk of it, longpressing no longer brings up ‘select text,’ it brings up ‘select word.’ That highlights the nearest word and provides handles at each end so you can expand the selection.

What’s the difference? None at all. My guess is that they had to lose the ‘select text’ name because it probably befuddled a lot of noobs that couldn’t select it yet.

It doesn’t get much more exciting than that, huh.

I just got the update and the first thing right off is I can't get ADW to work anymore the way it's supposed to. I could just be an idiot, but with every other launcher that I have had in the past hitting the home key prompts you to use a launcher that you have installed and you can check a box to use whatever you have listed as the default. I don't get this option screen any more. I am forced into using Sprints, terrible TERRIBLE launcher. I can hold the home key and run ADW from the running processes but that's not what I want to be dealing with.

Am I doing something wrong or did the new update fry ADW?

If your Added Launcher stops working after the Latest Update all ya' need to do is go to MANAGE APPLICATIONS, Select the Stock Launcher and Clear it's DATA and CACHE.

You will then get an option to select your preferred Launcher on the very next time you hit HOME.

OK, so the general drift seems to be that ZVJ is OK.

Specifically, have the problems of the previous Gingerbread release been resolved?

1-Car charging not working
2-Difficulties with access by PC as a USB drive

I had no problems with #2.

How do I turn off the requests to update? I am tired of the phone nagging me to update. After the nightmare last time,i don't have the time nor inclination to rebuild the phone from scratch. (not rooted).

Have not encountered either problem, 1 or 2, since applying the update.

I just got this phone yesterday, and it was still on ZVD. The phone started bugging me to go to ZVJ, so I caved in. It got a bit slower, and oh goodness, the animations lagged like hell. So then I decided to downgrade to ZVD, root, flash a custom recovery, and got CM 7.2. Runs WAY smoother and is overall just a fantastic ROM. Feels more like a Nexus S than an Optimus S, lol.

My suggestion? Stay on ZVD and go for CM 7.2. MUCH better.

One quirk since the update is that the phone keeps going silent; no ring, no vibrate. That’s not very nice, although I have way of knowing the actual cause.

I've noticed since the update that the GPS icon in the Status bar will not disappear after I turn off Sprint Navigation and GPS in settings. It will only leave after I restart the phone. Not a big problem though.

Another thing that I guess is because of the update, because it started happening at the same time: I use(d) Total Call Control so I could answer the phone by pressing the volume-up button; drop the call by pressing the volume-down button... very handy. Now it stops the ringing but doesn’t do anything else.

FWIW, if you wait long enough it'll just do it itself, whether you want it to or not...

I'd been holding off, telling it "no" every time it offered. Yesterday, it just went ahead and did it without asking.

So far, all seems OK, except for the Curvefish GPS On/Off widget now being NFG.

I’m going on two months with it, and everything either works the same or close to it, with a few things a bit worse. Even if a few things were a bit better, I don’t see why Sprint ever bothered to release it in the first place, let alone the travesty they caused with their first attempt.
