Accessories Who here thinks a case like the Otterbox is needed?

I just use a generic slim profile case from Bell Mobility and so far I'm pretty happy with it. It looks decent, it's just slim enough to (sort of) fit my Cardock (as best as can be expected since even the Feather isn't a perfect fit) has good grippage, doesn't attract dust/lint etc. I see no reason for a vault of a case for my phone but I generally don't have issues with breaking my phones.

I have the Outterbox Commuter Case and love it. It's just the right size, feels good in the hand and I can still slide it in my belt case. (Had to do a little modification though.) It feels really solid, easy to remove and all buttons and ports are easily accessible. I didn't use the screen protector that came with it, for it felt like plastic. I order the Zagg shield screen protector, which I really like. Just two down sides: 1) The case has to be removed for all docks. 2) It does attract lint, but easily whipes off with a damp rag. I have the iGrip Extender Kit Car Mount, from my old Backflip, that works well with the Atrix and charging.

So i have had my otterbox impact case on for a few days and overall i like it. Unlike some previous users, mine fits well and does not come off unless i want it to. I am having some second thoughts about the case though, and possibly thinking that i should have gone with the commuter or defender for a little bit of added protection. If anybody is looking for a cheap impact case, im willing to sell it so i can pick up one of the others (discounted of course). Does anybody know if the defender will work if i already have a screen protector on? I like the defender overall but i dont really need that extra screen protection (and i dont even know if it will work since i already have a cover). I might just get rid of this and upgrade to the commuter.

I have an otterbox defender. I love it, but I do miss actually touching my screen. LOL. I love the feel of the atrix's screen. I guess it's a trade off for the protection. Lord knows that I need it. I tend to drop my phone in the oddest of ways.

I absolutely have the worst luck with phones. If I told you what happened to some of my previous devices you probably wouldn't believe me.

Decided to order a commuter today to swap with my impact. The impact is nice but the corners tend to lift off when its in my pocket. I know there are plenty, but I will post a review/comparison video between the impact and commuter once it comes in.

I also moved to Commuter from Impact.. Couldn't be more happier :)
Why did I wasted money for Impact!

Okay here's my 2 cent review for the Otterbox Defender case.

It's not the worst I've ever owned, but far from the best. Perhaps I'm picky or it's flawed, I'm not sure yet...

Firstly, the inner-most hard shell of the case doesn't feel like it's completely snapping together... I've checked it and the locking plastic housing several times over trying to make sure everything is aligned correctly, undone, and re-snapped again... Something just isn't settling together well. But, as best I can tell it's together and secured.
So, now we move on to putting the rubber housing... for the most part it fits flush and around the edge of the screen, but towards the bottom right & left it's looser than anywhere else around the phone... not to where it's falling off or anything but just enough to be annoying and show a small gap. Here again, I've tried to check and re-seat it and make sure the slots are accurately in place, but nothing is fixing it.

The screen is fine, I've heard you should have an additional screen protector underneath the otterbox's built-in one, but it looks like crap, at least for me. So, I've tried it both ways... without one looks better and functions better.

The cut outs for all of the ports don't move well... or I should say go back in to place well... they come open fine, you just have to finagle with them to get them re-secured correctly.

Once everything is on, it appears to provide enormous amounts of protection from mishaps... it makes it ginormous, but its the otterbox defender, so that goes without saying.

I bought mine just to try it out and give it a shot, I know I ultimately want something I can easier dock and fit into my pocket, so no big deal.

Ultimately, the case feels rather cheap made and not like other otterbox's I've had in the past. Could be I just got a bad one, or how I sorta feel is they manufactured and market released it quicker than they should have. But again, there's so much bulk and layer to it, it can't help but protect your phone, lol.

There again, just my 2 cents... :)

EDIT: Ohhhhh.... I forgot about the fact of it being a lint trap! LOL... No, but really, I have read many ppl's complaints about this... and it does attract lint/dirt, however, my experience wasn't as horrible as some have been. Just a quick dust off has been good enough to get off anything that I've noticed get on it.

Hmm... I wonder what'd be the best way to sell mine, only had it less than a week and it's mostly been off of the phone. Anyone in Atlanta area let me know if you wanna buy this from me! LOL.

I Agree. I was searching to see if anyone else has had this problem. The plastic case fits together perfectly when NOT on my phone. However, when i try to snap it on my phone, the bottom left side will not snap together. I have no other screen protectors and have cleaned the outside to make sure all adhesive from "new in box" labels is gone.....just in case that was affecting it. No luck. I'm returning this to amazon and will get an impact.

I am an auto mechanic and so I need good protection.

The Defender fits the bill. It is a bit big, and the Atrix is a nice slim phone, but when I take the case off to clean it or whatever, it is absolutely PERFECT once out of the case. Not a scuff, scratch, ding or wear mark ANYWHERE!!

I also like that the silicone outside is "sticky" as it won't fall out of my pocket, be that shirt or pants. I dropped my old phone out of my shirt pocket all the time if I leaned over. I won't loose this one out of my pants into a customers car either due to the same friction fit in my pocket.

it fits perfectly, both the 2 part plastic and the silicone outer cover.

And being black, I can answer the phone with less than perfectly clean hands. Hell, I update facebook with gloves on!!

It also cleans up nice.

I have had the phone since the end of this winter and its all good so far.

I will say if you leave it in the car and it overheats, take the case off to let it cool down faster...

A friend a Defender for his IPHONE, and had left it on the roof of his SUV. He was driving down the road and heard a rattling, getting louder as he accelerated. Eventually he saw his phone bouncing down the road behind him. He stopped to get it, and not a scratch on the phone, but the case was banged up a bit.

Another time he was working under the hood, and left his phone on the car. He slammed the hood down on phone, but again, not a scratch on the phone.

I just ordered a Seidio[FONT=&quot] Motorola Atrix 4G SURFACE Case. I had a Best Buy branded Seidio case on a Samsung Nexus S and it was great. Thin, not slippery and the surface didn't attract any junk. It only made the phone slightly larger and seemed quite tough.

I should have the new case Monday or Tuesday.

I had a Defender case on my BB 9700... it survived a fall (thrown, actually -- don't ask!) out of a 2-story window onto concrete. When I got my Atrix, I bought a Defender... and I've dropped the Atrix countless times (klutz).

My only complaint is that the spring-clip on the belt clip sometimes gets stuck open and I have to release the pressure to get it back to normal position... but that has only happened when I dropped it.

Then again, personal preference comes into play.

My husband has a iphone 3gs and has a defender for it and loves it for me it is too difficult to take off when needed I bought the trident cyclops and it is wonderful my phone has survived all the drops i have put it through so far, i do think a case is needed as the phone feels slick and lightweight with out it i was afraid it would fall out of my pocket.
