Who here uses Apple Devices?

I got an Apple TV 2nd Gen (2010) and 3rd Gen (2013?) still working, and an iPod touch 5th Gen(2015) but that's it. Only using the TV platform, using the touch only when I have to change info on the account or pass a 2FA code.

It's kinda a dark day here on AF when we get an Apple device sub-forum...

Why not? I'm not saying you should start using Apple devices, I'm simply curious as to why you say you never will.

its part of the way Apple is closed and likes to control everything.....basically there business model. but mainly its because of the people who have apple products are so much more snooty. take my friends who have apple products. they always made fun of my android devices in the past. but now that Samsung has caught up to the innovations apple was making, i can now brag to them saying can your phone do this? can your phone fold and unfold like mine?

That's why I avoid Apple applications on my iPhone, I prefer appacations that will work on both Apple and non-Apple systems.

You are giving the snooty people way too much credit by letting them control you like that! Don't let the snobs pressure you into useing Apple prodects, or into not using Apple products. Use Apple products, or don't, for your own reasons.

i don't. i just ignore them. and its always been a back and forth with my friends and crapple products. it started when iphones used to be a "status symbiol". i had the moto razer (a flip phone) while majority of my friends got iphones. but quickly android has out grown them by leaps and bounds and it is me now who can finally brag about my phone. been razzing them for almost 10 years now. it started when i got the note 4 up to now with my z fold 4.......and maybe the z fold 5.
 
I mix platforms. I've been using Apple laptops for a decade, largely because they have the best overall app compatibility for what I do (some key apps aren't available on Linux, others aren't on Windows). To me it's just another *nix with a different GUI - less customisable than Linux, but I can live with that. Of course since a *nix environment is a non-negotiable requirement for me Windows was never an option (in my field all of the serious computing is done on Linux).

In fact my current tablet is also an Apple device. This is because the main reason I own a tablet is for reading and annotating documents, and the squarer screens Apple use are better for that than the more media-oriented aspect ratios of almost all Android tablets (and the Galaxy Tab S series have reached the point where there is no price advantage either). Plus there is better software for this usage for the iPad (speaking as someone who has spent many years using an Android tablet for the same tasks).

As a platform I prefer Android's flexibility, and for a phone, which I use for a much wider range of purposes than a tablet, it's my preference. But my principle has always been never to commit fully to one platform or manufacturer, so I'll always keep options open.

(I should add that I don't know anyone who brags about their phone, whatever platform they use. Maybe I move in the wrong circles?)
 
I remember when the first iPhone came out, a guy I was working with bought one. When he showed it to me the battery was dead. A couple of days later he told me he fixed it. He said he had to turn everything off or else the battery was dead after 5 to 6 hours. 🤣
 
For me, phones have always been and always will be Android w/Samsung preferred. I do like to have access to the Apple world and own 2 IPADS. One IPAD AIR 2 and a newer 2021 IPAD PRO 12" M1 chip. I have these for various reasons which include some audio work I do and it's also easier to deal with people who are strictly on the Apple ecosystem. For computers I use Windows based PC's and laptops. All in all, I pretty much have every platform covered. There are always problems with ALL of the platforms so I don't have any major complaints.

My best phone for battery was my very first.

Actually it had the shortest battery life of any of them, but it was the only one I've ever owned where the battery lasted longer than the manufacturer claimed: 23 hours when they only advertised 18. ;)
 
I had an iPad 8th gen for about 15 months until I replaced it with a Tab S7 FE in January. The iPad went to my 12 year old daughter to replace her either 5th or 6th gen.

The Tab fits in better with my S22 Ultra and Watch 4. They work seamlessly together for the most part.

Windows PC only. Better for gaming as a lot of games aren't compatible with Linux or Mac OS anyways.

Depends on the game. SimCity 4 runs fine on Linux, with PlayOnLinux. But on Windows: The DRM keeps it from being compatible with modern Windows systems, unless you get SimCity from Steam or somthing.

Nah, I buy genuine products, not knockoffs.

I still play some older games that will never be compatible with anything other than Windows. I also build/upgrade my own computers so there is that aspect as well. I also don't mind modern Windows, currently on 10. I do wait to update so that I can see when bugs are ironed out and the version is stable.

Well, The whole Android vs. Apple thing seems to me to be somewhat similar to the old Microsoft Windows Campaign.

Android: Where do you want to go today?
Apple: We are going to tell you where you can go and how you can do it.

For iOS: They say it's for security, they say they don't want people sideloading viruses and spyware onto their iPhones. They have a point, but they abused that when they banned news and social media apps (RT and Gab) for political reasons! They crossed the line from being our security guard who kept out people trying to steal from our house, to being our mommy telling us who our friends should be.
 
Ah, Microsoft: the company who introduced "Maybe you have just arrived to give a presentation, but you and your audience will just have to wait because we want to update your computer". And who tried to copyright the phrase "Where do you want to go today?"...

Don't get me wrong, I do not much care for Microsoft, but I really really really dislike Apple and IPhones.
