Gave up this evening after an 8-day wait and got the update.zip file.

Once I got it started, the update itself went very fast with no lengthy unexplained pauses.

About half my apps could be moved to SD.

One benefit of Froyo I haven't heard discussed in a while is that you can now alphabetize your contacts by last name -- but there are two setting changes required, sort by last name and last name first.

Still waiting for the update from VM. I downloaded the update.zip but so far I'm too chicken to go through the process. I may do it soon...

I have not received a text or anything concerning the update...
Reading this forum....I feel like a child watching everyone open loads of xmas presents and I just sit there with nothing!!!! It is very humbling......

but I have had my intercept since nov 23rd and I live in Central FLA...and I am determined to be patient...I almost became a priest:confused: .... and wait this sucker out and see how long it will take for me to get the update......I will wait forever if I have to and let the bugs all work out themselves..I refuse to contact virgin mobile because I can ask my dog when the update will be released and he will tell just as much as my phone rep or email would.

I am just happy to have a phone that can do all the things this can...remember when you needed a map to get directions??

so my saga will continue..scjoe am like you..I want to do the update but it just cant pull the trigger.
it has been comical reading this everyday and seeing the level of intensity rise in certain people and the frenzy that is whipped up over a simple phone update...only in america..besides I hate frozen yogurt and I love eclairs...see ya

I know I'll probably attract the ire of some of the longer-term Virgin Mobile customers, but I bought my Intercept on eBay and received it yesterday. I charged up the phone and got it and my new Virgin Mobile account all set up -- and when I woke up this morning, I had an update notification. Let it do its thing, and I'm definitely happy with the phone -- I'm getting the feeling I should count myself lucky that 99.89 percent of my Android experience is on Froyo.

Finally got it downloaded. It tried installing 4 times, failed each time I tried installing it. Can somebody help me? If not I will be STUCK on 2.1 :( :(

Just recieved mine OTA, worked flawless. Now I have to figure out what I'm going to put on the extra 2 screens...

Finally I am FROYO ....got it this morning @ 742 am.....got it OTA took all of 3-5 minutes..restarted and voila!!! no problemo..good things come to those who wait...so far I love it..it is way more responsive..Damn that stupid lag....I love the xtra screens.. now I get back my ninjas vs pandas and put it on my CARD... now leave me alone I have to go play:) peace to all

My patience was rewarded this morning. I received the update, installed it and is now running perfectly. No hitches.

While I'm waiting for 2.2, I tried to flash update.zip several times. All goes well until I get an error message that mentions stock apps that I've deleted, like virgin live and calculator. Reading the posts about update.zip, I guess I have to have a stock VM for the upgrade to succeed. But is the same true for the official over-the-air upgrade from VM? If I have a few stock apps deleted, will VM upgrade my phone? Do the people who have gotten this upgrade have stock phones?

I got min this morning @ 7:45am. It was worth the wait. Such a good update. I dont know why so many people are complaining. Its awesome!

Do you have all the stock apps installed? I got a menu pop-up this evening that said "system update is available", install now/later. When I pressed install now, a progress bar appeared and then what I assume is an error message with an exclamation mark and a triangular caution sign, not at all helpful. When I went to try updating again at system, about update, it said system is up to date with 2.1. I didn't get a text message either. Is update failing because I deleted some stock apps? If I do a factory reset, will it update successfully?

AFAIK, you can't delete stock apps unless you're rooted. AFAIK, if you're rooted, you can't update. AFAIK, factory reset only removes things you've added to stock. It can't restore things you've deleted.

A number of posts have made reference to a download that will enable you to restore to stock. That's what you'll need.
