who moved or planning to move from Galaxy?

I moved to the N1 as soon as it was released. There truely is no comparison between the galaxy and the N1. BUT you have to realise they are completly different classed phones. The N1 is _EXPENSIVE_ and the latest technology.

Put it this way:

Galaxy with IK5 firmware - 528Mhz CPU, ~40mb free RAM
Nexus one with .29 kernel - 1 Ghz CPU, ~70mb free RAM
Nexus one with .32 kernel - 1 Ghz CPU, ~180mb free RAM

I was seriously thinking of buying a Motorola Milestone(Droid), but I wasn't able to sell my Galaxy for a decent price (I bought it for 370

Right now, unless you have the money and really want/need the nexus etc or are somehow able to sell the galaxy at a reasonable price (compared to what u got it), its probably better to wait a couple of months.

The HTC desire will be out on most networks (in europe - 26th March for the UK), and you'll see other 1 Ghz phones from other companies.

Although i dont expect the N1 price to drop much if at all, the Desire price - through subsidy should drop over the next few months.

The droid isnt a good choice vs the nexus UNLESS you need a physical keyboard. Its slower and has less ram.

Just my opinion, and of course people have different circumstances/needs etc.

I will move away from Galaxy because O2 Germany has anounced a product recall. Apparently they used the wrong facts to advertise the Galaxy (16 Mio colors, Bluetooth filesharing to name a few). Now they give you a full refund (for me

just met a guy that works for Sony Ericsson. He let me fool around with his xperia 10. i guess it hasn't been formally released yet. he has just had it for 3 days and said the release in japan is soon (maybe he said a couple days--i forgot) and it was really nice to hold in the hand, the screen was huge and the ui enhancements seemed pretty subtle but made the whole os look more streamlined and slick. i only played with it for a few minutes. i was pretty surprised to see it will be released with only 1.6. they plan to update eventually but he couldn't say when. so we are not the only ones... just goes to show, android is a bit of a mess. funny, he also couldn't get google maps going through gprs. must be a china mobile thing.

I moved to a Motorola Milestone, i can't be more happy. The galaxy was my first and my last Samsung phone.

Don't suppose there's any chance of posting a link to the product recall, or letting us have a scan of the letter or something like that? Might make lives a bit easier for those of us planning to dump our Galaxies on O2UK when a better bit of kit comes along that actually DOES do what it's supposed to do...

Sorry, didn't see your post until now.
I can only give you this link to a german forum: Sammelthread - R

Wait a minute!!?!

I wonder how many phones this covers. I bought mine through a German online store (Elektrohaus Kurzer aka. Euronics aka talkthisway.de) and not directly from O2, but it arrived with an O2-themed firmware (some type of account-management app) and an inlay for an O2 phone plan (which was kinda moot since I'm not in Germany).

Would this be an O2 phone? Or does it only apply to direct O2 customers?

...I suppose you can guess why I'm asking! :D

In the forum I linked above there are users who also didn't buy their Galaxy directly from O2 but from MediaMarkt, and some of them reported that they actually could return their phones. Maybe you should write your online-shop an E-Mail about all this...

hi to all
couldn't wait any longer and preordered HTC Desire :)
i hope it will be much better than galaxy, but the future will show
so now i just need to wait until w/c 5 April and will definitely advise how it is compared to galaxy so you will know what to do next :)
and will definitelly stay here with loyal galaxy sufferers and will help anyone if needed.

Hmm, I'm really tempted but trying to stay strong and hold firm. Will try and last till May/June. By then should have decent reviews/feedback on the Desire, will have a better idea if i'm going to stick with 1.6/2.1 developments and may have info on how far away the Supersonic is. Bottom line is that it is a question of what to replace the Galaxy with.

Where, how much? I can say good choice.

378.99 pounds:
HTC Desire Graphite
in total 382 pounds plus you get 3months free insurance (against damage, theft, loss). so for me it's a very good deal as couldnt find any better price (e.g. play.com, expansys, amazon,prepaymania.co.uk,cleverkit.com) price it over 400 up to 440 or 500 :)
so will wait and see how it goes :)
i think im happy with the choice as videos ive seen look awsome.
plus i know that it will be supported if not by HTC then by xda developer community definitelly :) so at least will get more support than from samsung.
will keep you updated ok?

me too was planning to hold for that long but somehow couldnt resist after seing some vids.
and i think for me 2.1 plus sense ui will be more than enough for my phone usage :) so updates wont be that relevant as it already supports main phone functions (bluetooth,fm radio, decent camera app, damn fast processor and huge amount of ram (but which i guess it wont be able to access to the fullest yet))
but dont worry will let you know is it worth waiting or getting at all when i receive mine

hi to all,
so yes i've moved on from galaxy and extremely happy with HTC desire. my battery on desire lasts easily for two days with moderate usage, but if i leave untouched it could stay for 4-5 days (actually now i have 80% left with 2.5 days of usage). it's really impressive device and just sorry for these people who are still stuck with their galaxies and samsung "support".
however i've still got my galaxy and using from time to time as im too lazy for now to copy everything from galaxy to desire :)
if you have any questions regarding Htc Desire i'll be happy to answer

how's optical trackpad compared to samsung?
can't really comment as i barelly used D-pad on galaxy so same here i barelly use optical mouse on desire. but for me when i use it its fine, can't complain :) i just wish i used it more so i could give better answer to this question

pretty much the only thing i use the d-pad on the galaxy for is to move the "cursor" (wtf is it called?) in a text input field - i'm guessing the optical trackpad isn't as good for that (making it the only downside of the desire compared to the galaxy...) ?
