Root Who un-roots? (for security after changing whatever)

So basically I am curious who unroots after you make the changes or whatever you want? I know some applications require you to keep the phone rooted to continue using them, but maybe you don't use those apps very often.

Is it worth un-rooting the phone to bring it back to a pretty secure state?

Can we un-root our custom roms? (does/can it brick the phone?)

Only time I un-root is when I return the phone to AT&T for whatever reason. I would NOT unroot a custom ROM. I can only see things ending badly if you do since there are quite a few processes/programs that require root access.

What do you mean by "secure state"? You unroot a phone and you/your apps lose full access to system files. Yeah, if you unroot, the phone is more "secure" and harder for you to fcuk up...but you can't handle the responsibility of having access to system files, custom ROMs might not be for you.

I used z4root to do a temporary root to back up my wife's Captivate using Titanium backup and when the backup was complete, I rebooted the phone and it came back on unrooted. She doesn't need or want her phone rooted and she normally doesn't use any apps that require it, so only did the temporary root to run the backup.

The point of the SuperUser app is so that only the things you want to run as root run as root.

There's no advantage to unrooting, and probably a great deal of disadvantages.

Taking the phone to an AT&T store because the phone is acting up. You will want to be unrooted then, otherwise they can say the warranty is void.
