Who's fed up with VZW?

I use less than 300min per month that T-Mobile prepaid sounds like it would be ideal. The only problem is T-Mobile's call quality and coverage are pretty bad...but the sacrifice sounds feasible they way you stated it.

I've only been using this for about a month and haven't traveled a ton, so I'll definitely have to see how T-Mobile holds up in some areas. But my initial experience is that the call-quality is no worse, but the coverage is worse in rural areas. There tends to be a lot of Edge service where Verizon had 3G.

With that said, another advantage of T-Mobile is that so much of the 3G is HSPA+. In many areas where I'd get 400kbps down, 500kbps up with Verizon, I'm now getting 5000kbps down and 1500kbps up. Furthermore, I have an unactivated StraightTalk SIM which supports AT&T. For $45/month, it's unlimited calls/texts/data. I could always choose to not pay my $30 to T-Mobile next month and instead give StraightTalk a try, particularly if I know i'll be in an area where AT&T has much better coverage or I'll be using a lot more minutes next month.

The freedom is pretty wonderful.

Turn off roaming man. Is the extra charges and/or hassle worth the slightly improved coverage? Ask yourself that question... :)

I travel alot. And roaming within the states is free of charge.

Sent using Tapatalk, the free one.

For me, call quality is better.. and we will have to see if this refarming that T-Mobile is doing will expand their 3G footprint to match their EDGE footprint.

I think a lot of people are in a 'wait and see' mode.
AT&T failing to buy out T-Mobile may have actually been a good thing not only for competition but for the 3G roaming rights, spectrum and cash they got out of the deal.

The opinion from the scholars is that this failed deal actually hurt AT&T and the only reason AT&T made these kinds of concessions is that they thought it would be a done deal.

I like the freedom of GSM devices as well.
I don't know what came over me to go back to locked down carriers.
We will see if I learned my lesson this time. :D

What carrier are you on now?

I think I'm going to wait for the next Nexus device before I go and switch from VZW. Thank you for all of your help.

Is there another forum for the next upcoming Nexus device?

I know there won't be a prerelease thread as great as the one Steven58 made, but it would be nice to know.

Been using T-Mobile pretty much exclusively for almost a month.
They are beating Verizon by a fair margin at this point.

I continue to have call issues with Verizon despite several different devices.
There is mounting evidence that these issues are not with the devices but the network.

T-Mobile seems to have a much better network in my area.
Neither me or the wife has had a dropped call yet on T-Mobile where on Verizon is a nearly daily occurrence.

They of course deny a problem and blame the devices.
After 5 nexuses, 2 rezounds and a thunderbolt that I had before I got the nexus all exhibited the same issues with dropped calls I am blaming the network.
The Thunderbolt never dropped a call prior to at least March of this year, when a lot of our problems seem to have started.

On top of this I have my wife that is going insane over her dropped calls on Verizon and is almost to the point of begging me to port our numbers out to T-Mobile so she can use her phone again.

It's going to cost me dearly... 2 ETFs.... unless she decides to divorce me over a phone.
