Who's Switching?

Guys I'm moving on to the evo v myself I just sold my triumph for 200 on eBay these are my last few days on the triumph forums I wanna thank everybody for all there hard work and dedication to this phone and to all of my friends I've made I hope I see you on the evo v forums thank you all

See ya on the other side!

so as my subject says, I'm wondering...how do I deactivate my triumph and is it possible to keep my number for the 10 or so days that I'll be waiting until the evo comes out? any ideas...

Yeah, but metro pcs is like the East Germany of providers. I used to have their service, and it was impossible to use the phone for anything. Like, why do I want a blackberry where half the features are crippled?

Pcs Wireless is actually a sister company of Cricket. Notice you never see the two in the same market area!

Ah, it does bring 4G to VM... Yes, I will be buying this phone on release...

You should have your number for 90 days after your phone was shut off.

You don't have to do anything. When your EVO arrives just do the standard VM setup. I usually end up calling them and making sure that it activates. After 1-5 hours you should be good to go. (I have had it take 20 minutes).

As for keeping your number, just keep your account active, eg pay your bill. I am going to use my triumph until I get the Evo so all I will have to do is activate the darn thing when it gets here.

Hope this helps,

Good luck.

If you pay your bill, say on the 5th, and activate it on the 10th, you'll get charged twice and your bill due date will change to the date you activated your Evo.

My bill is due on the 11th so I just gotta wait a few days to activate mine. I can still play around with it on wifi tho :D

My bill is due Monday...maybe ill just wait to activate it and use it on Wifi as well for the time being...seems like a long wait

Not sure if you guys heard about Gamestop starting io their own carrier service....plans suckkkkk compare to VM.

Well, this is embarrassing, it turns out I'm likely going to a Galaxy Nexus on T-Mobile's prepaid $30 plan.

Heh, me too. I like my Triumph, but being stuck on 2.2 or trading defects to 2.3 (though the latest 2.3 ROMs have a lot to like) sorta sucks. The Evo 3D coming to VM is really the catalyst for this. It had me considering spending money. But the problem is, once I was fine with spending money, it only made sense to cross-shop.

The GNex is $100 more up front, and $5 less per month. And it *should* have much better standard 3G speeds, and more pervasive "4G" than Sprint's WiMax. At least around here. And it will certainly have more support/updates than the Evo V 4G/3D. Lastly, while there are only two real GSM carriers here, it is one more carrier choice than I get with another VM phone. I don't know why you can't take the same phones to Boost/etc if for some reason you like their plans better.

That said, if VM's 3G data was more consistent (it is plenty fast sometimes, but not usually), and they released at least one upgrade to the MT, I'd probably be contented enough to stay. I don't dislike my MT on VM, but there just seems to be a little more to like elsewhere.

I'm gonna stick with my Triumph. I mean, nothing for nothing, the triumph with a good ROM is a great device. I can't do 3D, my vision is poor and it would make me ill. So really, it would be a slightly bigger screen with a slightly faster processor that I can't fully enjoy, due to me getting sick from 3D. I actually really enjoy my triumph, anyway.

you don't have to have the 3d on...

I'm aware, but maybe its just my thinking: If I'm going to pay $299 for a device, shouldn't I be able to use all features? It would be kind of silly otherwise, I think. Perhaps a good sale may change my mind, but eh.

To me, the 3D part is a bit gimmicky. I'm more interested in 1.2GHz dual core processor with ICS shipped. Granted it's Sense 3.6 but I'm sure Sense 4.0 will be ported soon after. Besides, I'm willing to pay for a better overall phone with 4G connectivity. I live in a big city with excellent 4G coverage so I'll benefit from it.

Not Me..I don't have that "gotta have it" attitude whenever something new comes out. I will stick with my Triumph..why...BECAUSE I love it. large screen, it's ability to hold a large number of apps, good call strength, good GPS strength, great camera, good video camera, great front facing camera, nice flash, wifi wherever I need it..plus only 300.00 for the entire year(25.00/month)...most new phones will cost more than that.

IMO the Triumph has one the worst cameras I've used on a phone..I had a 3mp phone (forgot the name) that took way better pics..GPS is fast only on WIFI...signal sucks compared to the OV..touchscreen is bad and shouldn't need to be Rooted to fix its issues. I would gladly be switching over to the Evo V and doesn't hurt my pocket as I only paid $125 for this mediocre device

That's my situation too. Contemplating getting a Gal Nex on cyber Monday and switching to tmo

I thought about it too. Galaxy Nexus international unlock is selling at 399 on google, which is only 99 more than the evo v and you can get a high end phone.
I already have a samsung vibrant from t mobile, may have switch as well after I get into college.

Got a good camera app..works great..you must have had a bad phone, only thing I can figure..GPS works great in my area, again you must have had a bad phone. I get a great signal compared to my wife's optimus v....you must have been in a bad area..BTW I havent "rooted" my phone..worked great right out of the box...I'll not waste my money, and jump on whatever new comes out,

How do you know the Evo V 4G won't have similar or other issues? VM's update history has me a little gunshy...

It does seem like the V 4G/3D should have more unofficial support, but who knows if 3D ROMs will really port so easily to this phone.

I would guess the take rate will be lower on the V 4G than the Triumph was. I only say that because when the Triumph came out, there was little to no competition for a decent/midrange smartphone on prepaid. Now there is more to choose from. So there may be less "market" for custom ROMs for the phone.

what is good for one is certainly not good for all.maybe some do not mind spending extra for a modern working phone with good service.and a more up do date ROM.

I get at least decent photo quality (can photograph text and be able to read it in the photo). Re-ROMing helped with other issues, and I just bought this phone three months ago, so would rather not lay out a few hundred for a new phone already. I want a new sofa more. :)

you guys are naive to believe VM is just going to relabel this thing and run it in their system with its full capabilities intact. no they're going to throttle it down in one way or another, which may or may not have a work around to defeat if the hardware is even the same. in this regard this is why we have motorola triumphs not droids.
I do sympathize with those have problems with their triumphs and would be looking to switch too but it seems I'm one of the lucky ones who got a solid trouble free unit in that time window within a few days of launch. (though I also haven't played around with its software either, FWIW.)

I highly doubt the hardware would be altered, one thing for sure it will not be a re branded poorly and cheap made phone like the truimph.i am glad some are finding the Truimph to be the perfect phone, why so many others are ready to bury it like Motorola(Huwaii) and VM did when they released it.
