Who's upgraded from Desire ? Happy ?

Ok, so i've got my desire for about 1.5 year now, and it has been ok-ish so far.

I've got this app telling my about my internal memory on one of the homescreens, and it usually said like 128 out of 147 MB used for the internal memory.

Sometimes it would go up a bit, then the "low internal memory" symbol on the top would come up, i would delete the HTC mail program and it would be ok again. Though this did happen a lot.

However for the last months now it's like 141 out of 147 MB used and it's just slow and i've had enough and want something else, so thinking of getting the Sensation.

So i was just wondering if anyone else here had memory issue's with their Desire and if they are now happy with the sensation, or if they'd rather had gone for the Galaxy S2 which i've also looked at.

Hi

I upgraded from a Desire to a Sensation in August and have no regrets what so ever. Like you looked and compared against the S2 but prefered the build of the Sensation.

Had no problems with the memory, have a 8gb card and have downloaded about 60 apps, 200 mp3 files and loads of photos.

The phone is so quick and makes the Desire look so sluggish.

Upgrade today you will not regret it.

Thanks for that matey. That is exaclty what i wanted to here.

And for that reason have i just bought my sensation online a minute ago. Yay!

Good! I can't wait for it to get here!

I'm just gonna do some reading up on this whole custom ROM business as i was allways intended to do that with my desire but never got round it, but i read something about a ROM so the sensation will be like the sensation XE version, running at 1.5 Ghz.

Any of you guys done that yet ?

I too have upgraded from the Desire to the Sensation and its a big step up not just in the screen but in performance too. The only thing that bugs me is that the weather does not update as it should. I think that is down to the latest update, seems to have worked fine upto the update.

Good choice, the sensation is more of a guys phone. The galaxy has a poorer build but IMO it looks better but that's just personal choice, still I went for the sensation because HTC is just awesome! Still abit gutted I didn't wait a month and get the sensation xl but oh well!

I upgraded because I dropped my Desire and killed it :(, however I'm very happy with my Sensation, although it's developed a habit of Sense crashing after any app installs or updates. I'm sure a wipe would fix that, I'm just too lazy.:o

Cheers guys, that does look good and i shall go for that ROM as well then!

I've just read through it all, just got a couple of final questions to make sure i all understand it as English isn't my first language.

1) Can i check if my sensation has already been "S-OFF'd" ?

I bought my senstation of Ebay, received it fine the next day and everything works as it should. It was listed as unlocked, which it was as i could use my T-mobile sim in it, but on startup it does show a little clip of the 3 network.

Can i somehow find out if this phone has just been unlocked, or if this S-OFF has already been done/used on this phone ?

2) - It says it's Multi-language (WWE). Do you guys happen to know if that includes Dutch, so i can set my phone to it.

3) My sensation came with the 8gb memory stick, but i bought a fast 16gb one for my desire a while ago so i want to put that in the sensation.

When i hook it up to the computer i can see all the folders of the 16gb stick, and their appears to be a lot of crap on it, like folders of old stuff i thought i'd deleted.

Can i just format that 16gb card in the computer (i've got a cardreader it fits in), and if so, what format should i format it in (fat32) ?

you can tell if its S-OFF when you boot into the HBoot screen.
Hold down the volume down button when you start the phone, the first line at the top of the screen will tell you whether it is s-OFF or not.

PS, rooting is easy, done mine last night and now have the Beats Audio features :D

Held down the volume button and this was the message :

xxxxLOCKEDxxxx
Pyramid PVT SHIP S-ON R1
HBoot-1.18.0000
eMMC-boot

Ok so it says S-on, but why does it says locked, as it's unlocked to all networks, or is this a different locked ?

And may i ask how long did it take you to root please ?

Cheers :)

I've had my Desire for 15 months and although the upgrade to Gingerbread made a big difference to the speed and battery life I'm getting fed up with the lack of memory for apps.

I took the plunge and ordered the Sensation off Amazon for

1st time (like myself) can take an hour or so depending on how well u read and re-read the guides so as to not bugger your handset for good and whether or not you have all the correct software to work with (adb, revolutionary..etc) . Like many im sure, now ive done it once i could probaly do it again in 15mins.

This is the most noob proof guide out there (IMO) that i like many would recommend :)

I've just upgraded from a Desire HD....I like the higher resolution screen and improved performance on the Sensation.

The only downside of the batterylife seems worse and I've had the phone randomly re-boot a few times.

I've also noticed the Sensation gets very warm when running some apps, but I guess thats down to the more powerful cpu & gpu....

The only downside of the batterylife seems worse

I bought a twin-pack of Anker batteries, stuck the first one in mine on Friday evening. It finally ran out of juice overnight last night - two and a half days worth (and then of course, I could've stuck the HTC one back in).

I reckon, I'm now good for about a week without the need for power points. How much more battery life do you need? (-:

I was a bit worried about the battery on the first day, after 14 hours it was at 7%.

Things seem to be getting better with each charge though, the second day I got 17.5 hours and was left with 11% and that was after spending the last half hour or so trying to drain the battery. Third day and after 11.5 hours I'm at 53%.

Can you comment on the screen quality of Sensation compared to Desire?

The screen of Desire is wonderful IMHO. However, it seems that Sensation screen is not AMOLED. All other specs aside, I'm worried if it's actually a downgrade in terms of screen/image quality, regardless of the higher res.

I haven't seen the Sensation in a local shop, so I can't compare myself.
