Root Why 1.1 GHz

I just recenly rooted my girlfriends Nexus S 4G. The kernel I flashed let me overclock the processor all they way up to 1.4 GHz. the NS4G has a GHz processor just like our Desires. Why do our kernels limit it to 1.1? I know they have different processors, but will ours explode going that high?

My impression is that most Desires aren't that stable at 1190 anyway.

I don't know enough about the chipsets, motherboards and other components to sensibly discuss how similar I'd expect them to be.

Like Hadron said, desire isn't stable over 1.19. Some won't handle that. There's so much variation just with the desire. Given different chips all together, scope for variation is huge

The only kernel that i know of is Tiamats, and it will go up to 1267MHz although my desire will not function above 1190 as said before.
