Why all the Nexus S hate??

For all of those claiming the Captivate/Vibrant/[input Galaxy S variant here] is not different from the Nexus S, I can personally attest that the Nexus S does NOT suffer from any of the SGS issues.

GPS: I used my old HTC Hero's GPS to get to the Best Buy store to buy my Nexus S, and in poor weather conditions, the GPS dropped out about 3 times. Now I've generally been very happy with my Hero's GPS, and compared to my girlfriend's Vibrant, my Hero is far better. On the way home, I used my Nexus S. Not once did the GPS drop out. It got a lock far faster than my Hero as well.

"Lag" Problem: My Nexus S has zero evidence of the "lag" my girlfriend's Vibrant had. Now Quadrant seems to slow down during the database test, so it's possible there's still remnants of the issue; nonetheless, the interface is completely smooth.

Also, just want to point out that the On-Contract model is the EXACT same as the "unlocked" one. It does not say T-Mobile anywhere on it and is also unlocked.

right, its the same phone, just doesnt have the tmob logo on it. Just said its a cheaper out to buy the tmob version and cancel contract.

this is another thing that gets me.....

theres no difference between the branded phone and the unbranded except the branded model says tmobile. Its cheaper to buy the tmob one at 200$ and sign a contract for a day, pay the 200$ contract termination and walk away for 400$ total....download the samsung unlock app and instantly unlock it for any sim...

there ya go unlocked galaxy s for any network total price $400 instead of $500 what was the point of the unbranded for $500 again(minus out of us markets that is, i understand that).
Why are you even still on this sub forum? You hate the Nexus S, you don't have one and it appears as though you are just trying to rile people up....

Why get the Nexus over the Galaxy S? You are kidding, I hope....

The Nexus S will get software updates months before the Galaxy S...

No carrier crapware.... No added overlay (TouchWiz)..... Did I mention software updates???

You have obvious hate for the Nexus S, you obviously don't have one, and you obviously have no interest in doing anything productive in this sub forum....

I bought the Nexus S with T-Mobile contract. It doesn't have the T-Mobile logo on it anywhere. It's the exact same model they give to the non-contract buyers as well (at least at the store I bought it).

I've been trying to find something about this phone that I don't like; it has been very hard. I miss the LED light and I would like an SD slot, but let me say, this phone is sick.

As somebody who didn't want a Samsung or a phone or one with less than a 4.3 inch screen, I am very impressed and, so far, happy with my purchase. The GPS locks on very quick, the touch screen is ultra responsive, the battery life has exceeded my expectations, and every thing I ask the phone to do, it does it in a very crisp manner. Some have said the build quality sucks, but I just don't see it. It is a solid phone that feels good in the hand.

I also take great solace that I will get my updates as they come...no more reading about manufacturers promises.

If you are on the fence...buy one, you will not regret it.

As mentioned many times here its not that the phone is hated. Its that it is just white noise along side the other current android phones. Nothing really new or impressive other than the nfc chip which nobody in the us cares about yet, and gingerbread which has very little in the way of new significant features.

And on the down side; it only runs 3g in the USA on Tmobile. Very lame. You dont see many people itching to switch to Tmobile.

No SD slot. No LEDs. Average or below avg camera for a "high end" phone.

Not groundbreaking. Its a slightly modified galaxy S phone with gingerbread.

Its not hated. It's disappointing. We had higher hopes that the 2nd Google phone would be something special.

My views are from a former verizon customer:

I "had" a fascinate. I was sorely disappointed with what verizon made samsung do with the that "S" phone ... Mainly the 2gb internal. Verizon's meddeling with software updates ie: DJ05 release that fixed 90% of the current fascinates DI01 issues including GPS. DJ05 will not see the light of day as an official release.

I was sick and tired of using data on EVDO. Having to restart data apps when reception strength lowered and improved but the apps would still have the crap speeds until restarted. This happened on all my verizon andorid phones.

I was also saddened by the way sprints wimax kills battery with 4g turned on. Not much of a future there. I was disappointed with how LTE will not boost transfer speeds in non LTE phones ... so no future with the current droid line at all. If LTE is the same way, then that means verizon 3g would still be the defacto "standard" connection. With a transfer rate of 700kbps on a really good area, ill pass.

There's a huge and great dev community with the original droid ... Truthfully it set the bar. Closest thing to google experience phone on verizon. Now with verizon locking down the crap out of the current droid line, dev support has drifted away. Dev support is a HUGE HUGE HUGE factor for me ... Did i mention it was huge for me? ;)

I had it with verizon and decided to speak with my wallet. Sold my fascinate and it paid for my ETF with some change left over. Verizon knows who I left them for when TMO transferred my number.

The no sdcard slot is not a huge deal for me. Not after realizing that the NS is ext4 based. I think an sdcard would actually slow it down.

I can go on and on why I left and why im super stoked with the NS ... But you get the picture ;)

Btw since I'm posting from a ns this phones a pos. Its lacking alternative keyboards and camera zoom also.it also has lag on flash pages also when you instal flash 10.1on it. You happy now. The. Phone is a huge disappointment. Its also a giant pain in the ass to get roofed and such working on it.

Just saying.

huh? Alternative keyboards? I installed swype just fine. Zoom is a non factor with a fixed lens ... digital zoom = pixelated pics ... and southparkstudios and crunchyroll.com come up just fine with the stock browser and dolphin lite.

My nexus s is the phone of all phones. The screen is amazing, perfect size 4 inches, plenty of memory, no bloatware, feels solid, front camera, flash with great camera, battery life rocks for an android, buttons work. Pure android no overlay ui screwing up my updates. Love it love it love it. Oh and on an unlimited data network and no verizon or AT&T nonsense.

Its the same in the same way the Samsung Focus is the Samsung Vibrant. Of which by what I mean by that is its a completely different experience obviously you wouldn't know that being that I know you didn't own the device otherwise your words would be different. Its not a Samsung Galaxy S its a Google Nexus S. Get that in your head. Hell the phones aren't even the same in weight.

Quit lying. You are not even posting from a Nexus S. Proof or it didn't happen. If you don't like your device quit complaining and return it already and quit trolling this forum.

The phone IS hated and its because its seen as another Samsung and Galaxy S when its not at all, people see the two things and then attest the attributes where it doesn't apply. No SD Slot most people don't fill 16gb's on a phone especially a phone that is android. No HSPA+? T-Mobile speeds doesn't even average speeds past 7.2mbps yet, most people get around 5 or 6 on average, no where near even reaching full data speed cap on the network so thats a non issue. How about actually reveiwing a device for what it has and how it performs instead of what it lacks?

So the person who has previously stated nothing but hate for the phone, all the while admitting he didn't have one, went out and purchased it? YA RIGHT....

I am surprised a moderator has not taken action against you yet, but I am sure it will come if this trolling continues ...

Lol, oh now all of a sudden you have one? Give it up dude we all know you hate the phone but you can't sway others opinion. Good try tho.

T-Mobile is a great company with awesome plans and good coverage. No SD slot actually helps the phone perform better (ever heard of the iphone?) I never heard of a 5 mp camera being referred to as below average. Anyone who know's anything about cameras can tell you the more mega pixels does not mean better quality photos (hello HTC Evo). All in all this is a great device built on top of an already successful line of Android phones and it runs Gingerbread. It simply works.

90 percent of the hating resides in those that do not have the means or ends to upgrade. thus they want to fool them selves with jibberish. Any real android head would want this phone, just for the simple fact that google will upgrade it first!

wow...your ignorance shines through.

I was going to screen shot my added line on tmob account but the phone shows up as a samsung gravity 2....

however because i Hate being the guy who calls the kettle black without having a unit in hand to discuss this crap with you guys. Yea i bought the unit and it is the trash I claim it to be.

Posting from my ns, I'm really loving this phone now. Especially after getting swype working and getting used to the new interface. The battery life is a nice improvement from the vibrant as well. so far I can't find a reason why I don't like the phone.

BTW.. How do you HATE a phone??? It's just a phone.. Maybe you need some couch time instead of air time... Just say'n......

OK ladies and gents, remember our manners and to keep it civilized in here. I'm giving my verbal warning in this post since the thread hasn't gone down the gutter, if it does, I will give infractions to guilty parties. Remember it takes two to tango. Even if you feel a member is an arse in the pimply cheek and more, by responding, you make the situation worst. This will cause you to be as much in trouble as the other party. If you don't like another person's post, argue the content but do NOT attack a fellow member. You really think they are out of line? Report it and one of the moderators will take a look at it. The report button looks like this:

Not sure if you know, but we have a feature for you to 'ignore' members. When you go into the member's profile page, on the top of the left hand corner, select 'user lists' and 'ignore user'. Enabling this means you won't ever see that member's posts anymore.

Everyone has different tastes and needs, so a phone that fits one person perfectly might not fit another. That's OK, all that matters is that you love your phone, they love their phones and we all love Android ;) lol. There’s no point in changing someone’s opinion when there’s no right or wrong answer to what you think is right. That’s all I have to say :)
