Help Why are in store techs being difficult about swapping a sim card??

I mean, seriously, what's the big deal? I said I heard that swapping a sim card can solve data connection problems (which I have quite a lot of) and he was totally adament that if it was a sim card problem, I wouldn't have any signal, be it 4g, 3g, etc... He was dead set against giving me a new one... My question is, WHY? Do they cost like 400 dollars to make or something?? Or is he just being a dick because it's in the VZW tech support manual? I'm so tired of vzw giving me the runaround on every phone I've ever owned. It's not my problem that their phone manufacturers can't friggin design a phone thats even in the VACINITY of bug free... Not even on the same PLANET as bug free... Yet I'm the bad guy for asking for a simple Sim swap. Good....LORD.

Sorry... This post is half-vent, half-What now???

When I swapped my Bionic for my Nexus, they were a little fussy since they're different sized SIMs so I had to get a new one. My guess is not so much price but that each and every SIM is connected to a particular ID# so they don't want to waste them. That could be an absolute guess, but it's my thinking.
What I'd do, is just head to another store, maybe even a Radioshack or Best Buy to get a new one.

I would go to a different Verizon store.

Here's another hint ... I have found that every one of these stores has ONE person who is the resource that all the "experts" in tat store go to. Find our who he/she is and ONLY deal with him/her.

At my local US Cellular store it was a man. At my local Verizon store it is a woman.

Tell them you have seen numerous reports of a rash of bad SIM cards in the Bionic causing data drops ... exactly like the ones you are having.

Good luck.

... Thom

(This is the same person when I upgraded from my Droid X to my Bionic said ... and you want to carry your unlimited data plan forward ... right? I of course said yes and it was the first time I had thought about it for a nanosecond.)

I had zero problem getting a SIM card for my Bionic, simply for the asking, due to connectivity issues. I asked that they send me a SIM as well as a replacement phone. The replacement phone did the trick, so I have the SIM card sitting here "in case".

Just activate a 3g phone on your line. That invalidates the sim. Then they have to give you another. Lol

I think it was the luck of the draw.
You got a dick for a verizon rep.
try a different store or the same store on a different day.
just avoid the dick.
...words to live by. haha
I think I'll get some shirts made
AVOID THE DICK

I called VZW tech support again last month for my data drop issues. I'm building my case as well as waiting for a suitable replacement option. On my last call, I was transferred to Motorola support. He said I should get a new SIM card, and that my local VZW store could accommodate me. So I called the local store, told "Chris" the issues and that Motorola said I should come in, and he said no problem.

But when I get to the store, another salesman, "Dick" argued saying 1) the last .902 update fixed the problem, and 2) swapping the SIM card would not fix it.

Isn't this an oxymoron??? Anyway, I argued the whole thing until he finally agreed to give me the card.

Trouble is, I'm still having data drop/connectivity issues. *sigh*
