are you talking about your post? or within your post? not sure i understand what you are trying to say.
To delete a post or thread, you need to hit the report button and let a mod know. Only they have the power to delete.
Hmmm, not very good, I'll suggest it in the "Tech Forums: Re-Organized" thread.
what forum is there that's out there that allows members to delete their own post or thread.......answer none....at least not the ones i am on or been to. it is what it is. i doubt there will be the ability to do such in the future.
Boinc does. Why wouldn't it? I can edit this very post here to display "deleted". So why can't I delete it properly? You're talking as though I'd be doing something really rude/naughty/illegal. It's my post.

An occasional post deletion would not be too bad on the database, yet imagine 100's (maybe not here but I belong to several sites this could apply), of deletions at a time.
Deletions are not good for the database as it disrupts the paths and flows of things.
A new thread with one post and no replies is a footprint on the database, paths, directions are built off of this. Deleting threads is not good, especially if there is one of more replies to it.
A single post within a thread the same, just not as large a print.
This is why the option is usually not allowed by the membership and left to staff.

Have been in many forums and have never come across any with a deletion option. Once it's there, it's there and can only be edited at best

Android Central allows you to delete your post in another's thread. When you tap Delete instead of Edit a box asks to give a reason but you can put anything and it seems to delete straight away.
IIRC you can request your thread to be deleted and a Mod usually does.

Reporting your post with a request to delete is the ticket. Threads are the exception. Sometimes threads have great information that should remain to help others.
