Why can't the Triumph be flashed to cricket ?

I know the Triumph or any other Virgin Mobile phone can't be flashed to Cricket , but exactly why can't they ?

but there prices don't; the only reason i'm switching is because three-way calling is ah must and virgin doesn't offer it !

The carrier refuses to register their ESNs. There's no particular technical reason why not if they're running on the same bands - you just flash their PRL. But if they won't accept the reg it doesn't matter.
