Help Why convert all video to .WMV??

Balderick

Newbie
With all the differing media players available why does my SGS2 want to convert all incoming video to .wmv? You might think that a phone as advanced as this could be able to play virtually any media type.

On a similar note, I can't even copy .mkv files whatsoever. It shuts down my Win7 Explorer and Kies doesn't do it either.

Any thoughts?

How are you importing it? I don't see anything asking me to convert video files. SGS2 has many codecs incl. DivX etc so I find it hard to believe it would 'want' to use Microsoft format. Are you sure it's not some software trying to do it on the desktop.

Doesn't happen to me either. Plays video files fine, but not sure about mkv. However, pretty sure there are video apps in google play that can play those files if the stock player can't.

As for transferring files, the best method is to use USB connection. Go to Settings/Wireless&Network/USB Utilities, tap on the icon, then connect the USB cable, then just follow the on-screen instructions. The phone memory should be shown in the PC like a thumbdrive.

Cheers
