Why did you choose the EVO Shift?

SenseUI
Pocket Size
Physical Keyboard
hardware is fast but not at the expense of decent battery life

I have been waiting a long time for that combo.

Agreed with this 100%.. Even though I'm not a huge fan of Sense, I'll pick the Shift up because it has the potential to be a speed demon without the battery issues that woe the EVO. I'm not sold that the screen is big enough, but I'm coming from a HTC Vogue that has a 2.6" screen, so I suppose this will seem huge.

The biggest reason I'm holding off now is just because the permaroot hasn't been identified yet and I'm sure it will be rooted, I'm just nervous in case for some odd reason, it's not able to be permarooted.

HTC has a really good winner with this phone - and I agree - it's been a long time coming...

People complain that the EVO has a 8 gig card included and this only has a 2 gig, but aren't the cards included with both of them only Class 2 anyway? I'd rather my money goes to the hardware and I'll gladly put money into a Class 6 or 8 card.

i JUST bought the EVO Shift. i am coming from a Samsung Moment (so anything is better, right? lol )

here is what i ahve noticed so far... screen is bigger but not too big tho the class on the moment seemed a bit sturdier. i like the keyboard better tho miss the didicated number bar. i like the D-pad better than the optical button thingy on the moment. it is light but sturdy and dosent feel like a peice of crap.

IT RUNS SOOO FAST!!!

waiting for permanent root and a decent tether app is the only thing in my way just now but after only 2 hours of use or so i am loving the Shift
