A lot of other phones are using mini usb y wouldnt motorola use that as well?

It just doesn't make sense.

It is, isn't it? I am using the micro USB from my old Droid, and I'm even using the charger from my old ENV.

Pretty much all the new phones use micro-usb. It's newer and smaller, so handsets can be manufactured thinner. It's made to be more durable. It features a stainless steel shell which is supposed to support 10,000 insertion cycles. So, in reality it makes perfect sense. You can buy adapters online very cheap for mini to micro usb so you can keep using your mini-usb cords and/or chargers.

I'm using the charger from my old Droid too. I think it t charges faster than the one that came with the X.

The industry is standardizing across the board on micro usb. The Droid X uses micro usb. So does the Droid. The Eris uses mini-usb.

The good news is, you'll never have to have a drawer full of chargers that just don't plain work with other phones.
