Why do some get special offers?

The last time I get a text, email, or phone call from Verizon with a special offer was back in 07. I haven't changed any preference or options, and deliberately let my contract expire(I'm now month to month), thinking I'd see one of those text messages or emails offering some kind of small extra discount that people often post around the forums.

Verizon doesn't care anymore?

Verizon already thinks we are getting enough deals with the Share Everything plan...

I got an email from them the other day, first one in forever. They were offering me an upgrade "deal" on one of the dumbphone lines that is off contract. The big "deal" was to upgrade that line, and my whole account, to Share Everything. No discount on a phone or anything, just a straight up upgrade. Yeah, that's a "deal" I will surely pass on.

I didn't get an email or anything but, when I checked my devices online and inquired about which phones were eligible for upgrades and when, I found that my "X" was eligible for upgrade and I also had a $50 loyalty discount available.

When I went to the store and bought the RAZR Maxx HD I asked the girl helping me if that $50 Loyalty Discound replaced the NE2, she said no. Then I asked if I'd be getting another loyalty discount in 2 years, she answered that she had no idea.

So, it turns out the employees aren't sure about some of this stuff.

As many of you know, I'm patiently waiting for the release of my next new smartphone in the Summer of 2014.
