Help Why does my battery die so fast? Help, please...

Ever since I was sent an 'Upgrade' by Samsung last week my battery has been dying at a ridculous rate. I have had to turn off gps, mobile data, sync, turned down display and installed Advanced Task Killer. Nothing works. Raging. Any ideas to help out a technophobe :confused:
 
i found out that NFC and S Beam were on and that could drain my battery. I turn it off and now my battery is good. I left my phone on-with Data enable- for 10hrs. My battery went down to %43. The NFC and S beam setting are in / settings/wireless and network/more settings almost at the bottom.
 
A factory reset usually helps the Jellybean update "settle in", especially a big one like this. (I'm guessing thats the update you're referring to)
 
Hi precious. A factory reset will return your phone to its factory settings. In other words, the way it was when it was brand new. You will still have whatever the latest update you installed, like Jellybean. It won't delete files on your internal storage such as pics. However, I strongly urge to back those up to your PC or Google Drive or somewhere. I have seen too many people lose their precious photos because their phone quit working and they neglected to save them somewhere.

The apps you have downloaded will be deleted. They should restore back to your phone after you log into your Google account again, but any data with them you have saved will not restore. To backup your apps and data, you can use Helium. Any SMS messages you want to save, you can use SMS Backup & Restore.
 
Preciousdaisy, I had the same problem after "upgrading" to Jelly Bean. I was getting frustrated because the battery only lasted about 3 hours. There was alot of controversy about the new Google Now causing the battery drain. Google even released news saying the denied the allegations. Turns out I turned Google Now off and it solved all the power drain problems I was having. My phone once again lasts all day. I don't care what Google says about it, but that Google Now program drains the phone no doubt. In order to turn it off, open the app and go to settings, then turn off. Hope it helps! :)
 
Whatever you do dont update to JB battery already sucks azz on ICS but forementioned is worst.Given your phone is rooted use any form of root browser go into sys/app and delete update.apk otherwise it will always run in the background
