my LG volt gave me a notification that said I have an update I pressed install, unknowing the chaos that would ensue. It restated and it turn off right after the LG logo displayed and on again but after the LG logo displayed for a split second I could see the android recovery screen this one

then it turns off and restart the whole process over again i'm so confused I try factory reseting no luck if anyone could help me i would be
grateful

Can't be 100% positive but some updates will reboot back to recovery more than once to complete the process. Not sure about our Volt because I avoid the updates. Yours may have been cycling a few times to finish install of update. You could have possibly mistaken the reboots as looping in an endless flashing process. Hard to say and does not really matter at this point. Looks like you need to revert to zv3 in order to get the device working again. here is a link to the rooting guide which includes a deprecated method for downgrading to zv3. follow the downgrade process until your device is booting back up. you can also reroot via this thread if need be. http://androidforums.com/threads/guide-rooting-guide-updated-5-10-2015.893332/

Thanks, Curtis! :)

Not sure the OP explicitly indicated that they had been rooted, but that's often the most likely scenario for a bootloop after an OTA, eh? ;)

Welcome to our AndroidForums, baily lucci :). If you'd like, I can move this thread over to the LG Volt area for you so that you can get more helpful responses like Curtis has--let us know about that (and the rooting state of your device).

Cheers!

You are very welcome, that's why I'm here. To help and estsblish new friends and contacts. :). I will keep an eye on this thread in case I am needed later. Would be helpful if it were moved to our Volt forums so others can chime in as well. And yeah being rooted will cause bootloops when attempting to flash an ota. But looks from that screen this user had either flashed a bad ot a zip that was corrupt upon download or did not allow the process to finish. Some updates can cycle to stock recovery several times before finishing.

thank you and also I don't it was an update restart because I left it going for several hours and no result. yes my device was rooted. also i am running mac and the thread you directed me to has a lot of windows revolving things

will ask around and see if we have any mac/linux based tools but you may need a windows setup to perform the recovery.
