Why does my tablet not like any USB storage?

I have been trying to connect different usb storage devices for a while but the same thing always happens. First it says "preparing memory device" and then "device is ready to remove". I have not really tried to find a solution up to now but I guess now I want one. I have also tried to mount it from the system but it does the same thing. I am on Tim5a and never used really any other rom even the stock one to see if this happened after I loaded Tim's Rom in it.

I'm on 5a and haven't had any problems. Are they all formatted fat32? Have you tried using g-script to turn back on media scanning and see if that helps?

Just try placing a small file on the drive in your PC and try again... I had a tf card doing that once, I think it had something to do with the two [unix?] folders not being on the drive (lost and .android secure), but as soon as I put a small .txt file on the drive it was accepted by android, and it placed the folders on the drive.

I suppose it could also be something to do with a windows format...try SDFormatter.exe

That reminded me of flashing modchips. Sometimes you had to place "filler files" before the device could see the USB sticks. Good tip.

Well I tried puting my SD card in a card reader and pluged it in the tablet and voila it reads just fine. After I tried my pocket external HDD that is formatted with fat32 just to test it and it read it too. I was pretty sure though I read somewhere it reads NTFS. Maybe I should do something? As for my thumb drive.. its not the first device that dislikes it so I won't look more into it. Well thanks guys for the replies.

yeah I think with NTFS there is some mount option you have to chose.

Oh I have tried that shortcut on the desktop a while now but nope. Also it does not see it as damaged disk. It just unmounts it. Using that shortcut does nothing to load my NTFS HDD. Hmm I will try another one just to be sure.

Ok Nm. I just realized I had to at least see what the commands of the script were and then look at the folder that it said it was mounted. yeah Seems usign the scrip creates folders that go like sda1,sdb1,sdc1 etc etc and thats where you find your drive. Well thanks one more guys :) That simplifies a lot of things for me :)

Oh and also at it seems it has to be in the middle USB slot (slot 2) since the other does not seem to work with the script.

ummm...bizarre!!..sorry I haven't got a NTFS drive to try on mine.....I assume your slot 1 usb works with other devices? You do have a DISCO? the SAWEE has a usb host in slot 1

I have a disco model. Also my wireless keyboard and mouse work great on the slot so I do not think its that.
